Fall Out Boy was formed in Chicago in 2001 and consists of vocalist/rhythm guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, drummer Andy Hurley, and
leading guitarist Joe Trohman.
The band's first album, Take This To Your Grave, was released in 2004. The album included hits such as "Dead On Arrival", "Grand Theft Autumn", the
band's "national anthem", and "Saturday", the most constant closer for the band's live performances, no matter the show. Following was sophomore

The band's first album, Take This To Your Grave, was released in 2004. The album included hits such as "Dead On Arrival", "Grand Theft Autumn", the
band's "national anthem", and "Saturday", the most constant closer for the band's live performances, no matter the show. Following was sophomore
album From Under The Cork Tree in 2005, with songs like "Sugar We're Goin' Down" and "Dance, Dance". The next album was Infinity On High, whose
title derived from a Vincent van Gogh quote. It featured songs such as "This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race" and "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs", a song given
such a title due to the band's lawyers requesting a title length cut (and the band's sarcastic response being to cut the vowels rather than reduce the
amount of words in the title). The next album to be released was Folie a Deux (French for "the madness of two"). Folie included hits "I Don't Care" and
"America's Suitehearts."
Following Folie was a greatest hits album entitled Believers Never Die and the news of a hiatus in 2009. During the hiatus, members broke off for their
own projects, with Stump following a solo career and releasing an EP and LP under his own name. Wentz played bass for The Black Cards, and Hurley
and Trohman left together to work in metal band The Damned Things.
The hiatus ended on Feb 2, 2013 with an edited rerelease of "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark", previously a B-side but now known as "My
Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up)". The song, serving as a rise from the grave, also came with a show that night in the band's
hometown, news of a new album (now Save Rock And Roll, which released later in 2013), and a new headlining tour.
The group went on to perform three more tours before releasing their next album, "American Beauty/American Psycho" in 2015.
The band's music style has changed throughout the years, but Fall Out Boy will always be cited as one of the 2005 emo bands you listened to in high
school whether you wanted to admit to it or not. « hide |
