Zug Izland is an alternative/hard rock band from Detroit that first formed in 2001. Formed by Insane Clown Posse member Violent J as a result of his admiration for 90s grunge bands, specifically Nirvana and Pearl Jam, Zug Izland were immediately signed to ICP's label, Psychopathic Records, once its lineup was stabilized in 2002. In January of 2003, Zug Izland released its first album, "Cracked Tiles", which proved to be both an underground smash and a slight mainstream success as well, as it reached number 31 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart. Zug Izland is an alternative/hard rock band from Detroit that first formed in 2001. Formed by Insane Clown Posse member Violent J as a result of his admiration for 90s grunge bands, specifically Nirvana and Pearl Jam, Zug Izland were immediately signed to ICP's label, Psychopathic Records, once its lineup was stabilized in 2002. In January of 2003, Zug Izland released its first album, "Cracked Tiles", which proved to be both an underground smash and a slight mainstream success as well, as it reached number 31 on the Billboard Top Independent Albums chart. Their 2004 follow-up album, "3:33", was an even bigger hit as it reached number 22 on the Billboard Top Independent Album chart.
Despite their overall positive reactions, specifically in the Juggalo universe, Zug Izland largely went on a hiatus by 2006, touring only sporadically for the next few years. In 2012, Zug Izland reunited after a few years of silence and in 2013 released their first compilation album "Toxicology: Zug Izland's Dopest Bangers", before breaking away from Psychopathic Records for the first time ever in 2015. Going on as a purely independent band, Zug Izland then released "The Promised Land/Nebula" in September of 2016, which was their first original album release in 12 years. « hide |
