Monie Love is a legendary female emcee from London. Although she was pretty well known in Europe and in the UK, she got herfirst US break whenshe was featured on the hit Queen Latifah single "Ladies First" in 1989. Afterwards, Love experienced hugesuperstardom in the US specifically, whenher 1990 single, "It's a Shame (My Sister)", was nominated for two Grammy awards in1991 and 1992. Although she had global success while only inher early 20's, Monie Love suddenly disappeared from the publiceye in 1994. In 2000, she released her latest bit of material, the single "Slice of daPie", which was a mild hit in the UK only.Since 2004, Monie Love has been a respected radio personality, while her music career still appears to be insome state ofhiatus.
