Marcy Playground is an alternative rock band from New York City. Formed in 1994, the group became major in a year, signing to
Capitol Records in 1995. Marcy Playground are probably best remembered for their massive 1997 single "Sex and Candy", which
spent 15 weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The huge success of "Sex and Candy" helped drive Marcy Playground's self-titled debut album to break charts in the US, the UK
and Canada. It was eventually certified platinum in the US. Although they have not come remotely close to repeating this
success, the group remain active today, after over 20 years together.
