Dan Erland Swanö (born 10 March 1973) is a Swedish multi-instrumentalist musician, songwriter, audio engineer and producer. Highly regarded in extreme and progressive metal alike, he rose to prominence as vocalist and creative mastermind behind Edge of Sanity and Pan.Thy.Monium, though he would later also front bands such as Nightingale, Whitherscape and InfestDead. One of the most prolific creative forces in metal, Swanö has lent his production and audio skills to countless bands, most notably Opeth's first two albums, Katatonia's first two albums, as well as Marduk, Omnium Gatherum and Novembers Doom. Given his influence it's no surprise that he has also been part of metal supergroups such as Bloodbath and Star One. Swanö has only released one studio album under his own name, 1998's Moontower, which he describes as sounding like "if Rush played death metal in the 70s". « hide |
