Messiah

Messiah is a Swiss metal band formed in Baar, Zug in 1984. Much like fellow countrymen Celtic Frost, they pioneered extreme metal in Europe, with their 1985 demos Powertrash and The Infernal Thrashing being early and notable examples of death/thrash metal. Two studio albums followed, further refining this sound before the band called it quits in 1988. Most members would go on to join other bands in the scene such as Fear of God (CHE), while guitarist and founder Remo "Brögi" Broggi would reform Messiah in 1990 with a new line-up. This second phase of the band saw a shift towards a more straightforward death metal sound and eventually even some industrial influence, though after three more albums the group disbanded once more in 1995. 2003 saw a brief reunion, and some 20th anniversary releases followed the next year. As of 2017, Messiah are once again active and recording. https://messiah1984.bandcamp.com/ « hide
