The Sea & Cake are a foursome from Chicago. The bandis often classified as post-rock, but they borrowinfluences from jazz, funk, andmainstream rock. Theirmusic is extremely mellow and lazy, the band started outplaying more upbeat jazz influenced songs but theygraduallytransformed their style into more melancholyand depressing music. The Sea & Cake have released sixalbums all on Thrill Jockey Records. Theband doesn'treceive much critical acclaim, and there is no stand outalbum but every album they release is excellent in itsown way.
