Tanpopo were a Japanese pop group that formed in 1998. Initially a trio, the group consisted of Mari Yaguchi, Kaori Iida and Aya
Ishiguro. The group is known for being the first Morning Musume related subgroup to form in its extensive history. Although the
group had its share of members in its history, perhaps the most well known incarnation of Tanpopo consisted of Mari Yaguchi,
Kaori Iida, Rika Ishikawa and, the now infamous idol, Ai Kago. The group is also within the top 3 most successful subgroups of
Morning Musume as well, alongside the likes of Minimoni and Petitmoni. Tanpopo initially split in 2009, but a reincarnation of the
group was formed that same year under the name of Tanpopo#, consisting of younger members within the Hello! Project.
