Otep

    OTEP is a nu metal band formed in Los Angeles. They are best known for their unique blend of death metal and nu metal, as well as for their highly controversial and politically outspoken vocalist Otep Shamaya. The band was quickly signed to Capitol solely on live performance shortly after their formation in 2001, and the band released one EP and two albums on the label, which sold a combined total of 400,000 copies worldwide. After releasing two more albums on the label, Otep promised she would leave the music scene with 2013's Hydra due to the declining popularity of extreme metal and music piract. Despite this announcement, Otep has since released two more albums, the most recent being the critically maligned Kult 45 in 2018. They are in the process of recording a follow up as of 2022. « hide
