Originally a part of the UK garage scene, scoring an early hit with "Booo!", Ms. Dynamite enjoyed considerable critical acclaim after her debut album, 2002's A Little Deeper, saw her switch to a more adult, soulful, socially conscious style. She went on the win the Mercury Music Prize that year, along with several other awards. She then took time off to have her first child; unfortunately, her return was greeted with a lukewarm reception, and her second album flopped, leading Polydor to drop her from their roster.
