Michael Monroe is a Finnish musician, who rose to fame in the early 80's as the front man of the Finnish glam punk band Hanoi Rocks. Hanoi Rocks rose to fame in their homeland Finland, England and especially Japan. The bands look (especially Monroe's) was copied by many Los Angeles glam metal band's in the mid-80's. While the band was on their 1984 US-tour, the bands drummer Razzle was killed in a car charsh, where Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil was driving the car Razzle was in. Hanoi Rocks broke-up shortly thereafter. After Hanoi Rocks' disintegration, Monroe set out on a solo career. His first album "Nights Are So Long" was released 1987, but only in Finland and Japan. The album was a moderate success, but it got Monroe signed to Mercury Records. In 1989 Monroe released the album "Not Fakin' It", his first to be released internationally. The album got good reviews, but it didn't turn out to be a success (partly due to lack of support from Mercury). Monroe toured the world, but in 1990 he put together a new band with guitarist Steve Stevens. In the early- to mid-90's Monroe recorded two albums with two bands; Jerusalem Slim (which released one self-titled album in 1992) and Demolition 23. (which also released on self-titled album in 1994). Both bands broke-up shortly after their albums' release's. In 1992 and 1993, Monroe guest stared on Guns N' Roses' albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "The Spaghetti Incident?" In 1996 Monroe returned to being a solo artist, releasing the albums "Peace of Mind" and "Life Gets You Dirty" in 1996 and 1999 respectively. In 2001, Michael Monroe and Hanoi Rocks-guitarist Andy McCoy reformed the group with three new members. The newly-reformed band released their first album "Twelve Shots on the Rocks" in late 2002. Just a few month's later, in January 2003, Monroe also released a solo album titled "Whatcha Want". After two more albums, in 2008, Monroe and McCoy announced they would be ending Hanoi Rocks, saying they had taken the band as far as they could. Hanoi Rocks played their final shows at the legendary Tavastia Club in Helsinki, in early 2009. In early 2010, Monroe held a press conference in Los Angeles where he unveiled his new band. Simply called Michael Monroe, the group consisted of him, original Hanoi Rocks-bassist Sami Yaffa, guitarist Steve Conte, guitarist Todd Youth and drummer Jimmy Clark. After a few tour dates Todd Youth and Jimmy Clark were replaced by Wildhearts-guitarist Ginger and Karl Rockfist. The group spent most of 2010 touring the world, as well as releasing the live album "Another Night in the Sun: Live In Helsinki" in late 2010. In March 2011, the band released it's first studio album. Titled "Sensory Overdrive", the group hit the road in support of it, deafening audiences with high-energy rock 'n' roll. « hide
