Johnny Marr (born 31 October, 1963) is an English musician and songwriter. Marr was co-songwriter (with Morrissey) and guitarist of seminal
English indie rock band The Smiths from 1982-87. He is renowned for his jangly Rickenbacker playing with The Smiths and is widely considered
one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of his generation. Since The Smiths broke up, Marr has been a member of Electronic, The
The and Modest Mouse, as well as fronting his own band, Johnny Marr and the Healers. In 2008, he joined The Cribs after touring with them
on 2008's NME Awards Tour, remaining in the band until 2011. He released his debut solo album, The Messenger, in early 2013, and
his follow-up album Playland in 2014.
