Janne Da Arc is a popular Japanese visual kei rock band that originally formed in 1991. Although they indeed formed in 1991, the
group themselves usually didn't consider themselves to be truly active until the recruitment of drummer Shuji in 1996. The group
initially had a much more aesthetic-heavy look, but, like many visual kei bands, they ended up toning it down, and went on to
enjoy tremendous success in the Japanese mainstream throughout the 2000's. The group were also acclaimed for their unique
sound which took influences from progressive, symphonic, alternative, hard and pop rock. However, the group have been on a
hiatus since 2007, in order to focus on their own solo careers.
