Guy is a R&B band from Harlem that first formed in 1986. Having massive success from 1988 through 1991, the group are best known for their creation of new jack swing, which blended hip hop, dance-pop and R&B. In 1991, after releasing only a few singles and two albums, Guy disbanded, with the head of the group Teddy Riley going on to become one of the most successful R&B artists of the 1990’s and later forming Blackstreet. In 1999, Guy reunited and released their third album in January of 2000, “III”, before splitting a second time later in 2000. Since 2005, Guy have had numerous reunions, although mainly as a one-off act.
