Anarchy was a legendary Japanese punk rock band that first formed in 1978. The group's initial rowdy-yet-poppy sound was considered to be groundbreaking, and their self-titled 1980 debut album remains one of the most highly regarded releases in the initial Japanese punk movement. By 1985, Anarchy had managed to transition from a straightforward punk band to a much more complex post-punk-esqued sound. By 1985, Anarchy had managed to transition from a straightforward punk band to a much more complex post-punk-esqued sound. In 1986, after eight years of strong activity, Anarchy disbanded, and some of the members of the group went on to join The Rock Band, which was active from 1986 through 1990. In 1996, after a decade apart, Anarchy reunited and released some more albums and singles, which had a much more industrial sound to them, similar to digital hardcore that was moderately popular at the time. In 2001, Anarchy split for a second time, and although they have for the most part remained inactive since then, Anarchy have reunited in 2013 and in 2017. « hide |
