Aaliyah Dana Haughton (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001), known professionally as Aaliyah, was an American R&Bsinger,dancer, model,and actress. She was a Grammy Award-winning recording artist, and she famously won her first Grammy in2003,nearly two years after death. Introduced to audiences by R&B singer R. Kelly, Aaliyah first became famous during the mid-1990swith several hit records from the songwriting/production team of Missy Elliott and Timbaland, and their associate Steve"Static"Garrett.
