never heard halo in a haystack.
Isn't it just straightforward metallic hardcore?

It has more melodic tendencies and in my opinion, its a much easier listen. Thats not to say it isn't hardcore music, because of course it is. Check it out though its worth the time.

The problem with this record is the fact that it has good lyrics, but you can't understand them, even when you read along with the music. And his voice just doesn't add enough for me to consider it an instrument and accept the album as instrumental.
Which means I just can't get into this album.

it's weird cause I can get an ego boost by agreeing with the elite kids and in the same way an ego boost by disagreeing so I basically rate albums at random now

I love metalcore, the good kind but mostly the bad kind so I should be on this. The frenzied rage of Converge should appeal to me but I just never got them. And i'll tell you Chan, people these days seem to be growing more interested and gullible into healthier living, hence the mona vie and all those health bars. It's pretty successful but I guess i'll have to listen to Converge when i'm having one of those Joker like moments.
I mean, no soloing, no chugga chugga, no clean choruses, i'll have to work on this one. This Message Edited On 03.18.09

Um...no, I do understand the point of harsh vocals, I just don't feel these ones do the trick.
And yes, you're right, my opinion is different to yours, thus it is void. How silly of me.

captain north...
no, you don't understand harsh vocals. If something as simple as not being able to understand the lyrics completely turns you off of an entire band, without even giving it a chance to sink in, then you don't understand harsh vocals.

Did I say I didn't give it a chance to sink in? I spun it numerous times. It's not simply that, its the fact that the vocals don't add enough to the music to excuse not being able to understand them (even when reading - and its frustrating because they're good lyrics, I feel thats a waste). Some harsh vocals I feel complement the music perfectly, these, I just don't get it.
I mean, the screams of United Nations are barely understandable, but I still love them. I just don't GET these vocals.

The vocals of Jake Bannon are just him spouting out each emotion tearing away at him in a spastic and chaotic manner. Its extremely complimentary to the music because of how grating and frightening it is. His cadences flow perfectly with every riff. I love his vocals, though I can completely understand why someone wouldn't. Definitely not for everyone. This Message Edited On 03.20.09
