Fuck yeah. Was selfishly dying for this to leak so I'm glad it's been put up. Off to listen now!
|
| |
This has made tomorrow for me :-)
|
| |
Ghahahhhhhhhhh. FINALLY. I can't wait to listen.
|
| |
I'll resist the temptation of whipping up a review right away, because there's a lot to digest on Sound Awake, needs a little time for an appropriate review. Album is definitely what I expected it to be though.
|
| |
woooooooooooooooooooooooo 5/5
best weekend ever, TBE live and New 'vool album.
|
| |
awesome so far
|
| |
Better than I thought actually. 4.5+
Also...album of the year? Best album to ever come out of australia?
|
| |
Okay...now I've heard the whole thing I'm in two minds about this...there is a significant lull in the album for 3 songs (Medicine Wears Off - Illumine) that I got thoroughly bored through...and did anyone else have the problem of Change cutting off only a few minutes in?
|
| |
not gonna bother, couldn't be fucked with myspace. i'll just listen to it in supreme cd quality when i purchase it.
|
| |
Fuck yes. This is worth using myspace for. Even if I have to switch browsers -_-
|
| |
Calling it early:
Album of the Year - Sound Awake
Song of the Year - Change (Part 2)
|
| |
I'm only 2 songs in and I think i'll just buy this when it comes out. Mammalian why didn't I listen to you and look up this band? lol
|
| |
Damn you mammalian! The myspace keeps cutting off Change only a few minutes in. I'm going to have to wait for the album to come out properly to hear it.
|
| |
oh man, its the best thing ever.

obviously if we think average music is average we havent listened to it
|
| |
oh did i break your combo there oh so sorry oh
|
| |
Shame you don't like but we're just doing fine without you man.
A bit reluctant to agree with 'album of the year' already since it has a few faults but meh it's so fuckin enjoyable right now.
|
| |
Obviously you haven't bothered listening to it.
Obviously I don't come from the same city as the band.
|
| |
Neither do I actually. Neither does Mammalian or most of the people here.
|
| |
oh did i break your combo there oh so sorry oh
are you retarded?

Neither do I actually. Neither does Mammalian or most of the people here.
Way to miss the point dolt.

VESPERS DESCENT! Felt like throwing that out there.

Good album, but it doesn't take more than one listen to realize this isn't the album of the year.
|
| |
Neverender is the album of the year already, and its basically the album of all time.
|
| |
Only like one song from Neverender is unique to this year. Giving what is basically a compilation album "Album of the Year" is sort of silly.
|
| |
Its not really a compilation, its more of a complete collection. Hey, I'm just saying, it has a freaking 4.6.
|
| |
I think I'm going to have to give it a 5, 4.5 at least after a couple of listens.
Even more awesome than I expected
Please come to the UK Karnivool!
|
| |
"Neither do I actually. Neither does Mammalian or most of the people here."
yeah I don't either haha.
Definitley not album of the year, but so much more original than other rock acts from Aus.
|
| |
yeah it's no 21st century breakdown
|
| |
have you EVEN heard stray cars by qotsa?!
|
| |
I'm guessing CkCk is rasputin under another name?
|
| |
are you retarded?
|
| |
nope.
|
| |
Think I'll end up giving this a 4.5 ultimately, more like between a 4.2-4.3 now in the context of Themata being a 4. Definately not a 5. Expect a review to be sometime up this week, want to do it well.
|
| |
yes Alligator, CkCk is me, I made another account just so I could converse with myself
|
| |
very funny charles
|
| |
indeed
|
| |
B-)
|
| |
"yes Alligator, CkCk is me, I made another account just so I could converse with myself"
I honestly wouldn't be suprised, You seem to hate everyone but yourself
|
| |
that's all good and well, but have you even HEARD the stray cars of qotsa?
|
| |
lol
|
| |
"Definitley not album of the year, but so much more original than other rock acts from Aus."
Seriously, Alligator. What have you got against Australian bands?
|
| |
stray cats...not cars :P
|
| |
stray cats...not cars :P
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
|
| |
albums pretty good
|
| |
Caudal Lure is such a sick song. :D
Good album, kind of reminds of Tool.
The album is much slower as a prog rock album then what i'm used to in the progressive death scene ;).
I want to buy this.
|
| |
Didn't have time to listen to it all but loved the tracks i listened to. Will probably buy this as soon as I can.
|
| |
Sounds even better after more listens. Definitely a grower.
First half of the album is the better part. The 2nd part is fine, but feels a bit slow.
There's like 4 minutes of filler i'd say, which is good for a 60+ minute album.
|
| |
I'm starting to think Themata is still better than this album. I'll see once I actually own it.
|
| |
yeah that's what I think.
|
| |
Themeta will most likely still be my favourite even after I own it.. though this is still an amazing album
|
| |
I just wish the album was more technical like Themata (song) which had some fairly difficult guitar parts.
|
| |
This album is more technical isn't it?
|
| |
Not harder to play the guitar seperately probably. But it's much harder to nail the vibe and interplay with the other instruments well than it was on Themata. Prefer that above speed and technicality tbh.
|
| |
Mmm, this album never makes you want to stand up and scream the words like Themata did for me. Maybe in time it will though.
|
| |
I hope it does that for me also
|
| |
Time sigs are more retarded on this, so from that point of view its more technical.
I love this album, its different than Themata though, more of a grower rather than hit you straight on.
|
| |
So yeah myspace is being gay so I can't listen to this until my friend gets it. I've been playing the shit out of Themata as compensation.
|
| |
Brilliant album.
just as if not more technical than Themata. Interesting time signatures, great vocals (Ian Kenny never dissapoints in that regard), great drumming and some really catchy songs.
all I Know, Deadman and especially New Day are the standouts.
I like the more complex, epic songwriting that they've introduced to their songs now
