New Creed Album - Full Circle
2009-04-28 by Meatplow | 68 Replies | 16511 Views

After a six-year hiatus, multi-platinum selling Orlando-based rock band Creed have returned with a new record tentatively titled Full Circle. "We never felt like we weren't together," says frontman Scott Stapp. "We're not looking at this as a reunion. It's more of a rebirth."

Though they stayed in touch through holiday cards and the occasional phone call, the group refrained from recording together in order to, "explore other creative outlets and build the main priority in all of our lives, which is our family," says Stapp.

Indeed, the band has grown up quite a bit, as has Stapp's son Jagger, the muse behind their hit "With Arms Wide Open." "He's not a baby anymore," says the proud papa of the 10-year-old. Stapp now also has a 2-year-old named Milán. Could another hit about his offspring be on the horizon? Quite possibly. He wrote a tune about his daughter as well, simply titled "Milan Song." "She's my twin soul, my light," he says of his little lady. "I do whatever she wants."

Stapp, who made the initial push for Creed to get back together, says it was awesome to see all the guys in one room again. "I said, 'I love you and if I've ever caused you any pain in your life forgive me.' And they said the same things right back." With any bad blood dissolved, the guys got back to jamming and planning a summer tour. "We're not trying to stay in a certain place or conform to where we left off," says Stapp. "The music is fresh, edgy, raw, passionate, honest and it rocks."

"It's just the right time and we're all excited!"

They lost Stapp, became Alter Bridge and never acted on it much either. :/ There was a hell of a lot of potential there with Myles Kennedy, who can sing as well as Chris Cornell used to! Why he chose to restrain his voice is beyond me.

Tremonti seems like a cool guy to me, and I dare say they've written a few decent songs in their time. But their brand of mainstream rock has been done to death and I don't see them making any significant changes. I sense a snoozefest, but probably one that doesn't deserve all the hate it's going to receive simply because it's Creed.

Some of the clean stuff Tremonti did was pretty creative, although he overdid it, and the occasional riff was catchy and non-obnoxious, but... yeah.

I can really see where people would get the impression of generic radio rock from their singles like, with arms wide open, higher, my sacrifice, and that stuff. But they always had pretty unique sounding songs on their albums, especially the first two.

There may be a very small chance that this could turn out to be slightly decent. Creed's writing and sound overall got worse with every single album..that last album they put out before the breakup was one of the worse albums I had ever heard. Their first album actually had somewhat decent material on it, and with every album they just kept getting shittier. Mark Tremonti is probably the only decent thing there ever was with this band, none of the other members really had a fair amount of "real" talent, I don't think..or at least, it never showed. The band on an instrumental level was not that bad, some of the songs did have their good moments and catchy, non generic riffs...but Scott Stapp kind of ruined that. Their music in general was just overplayed, boring, generic mainstream rock and that's kind of what makes the band suck so much for a lot of people. As Golgoroth said, Creed had/have potential...This Message Edited On 04.28.09This Message Edited On 04.28.09

yeah Creed do have potential. But they always have, and yet they've never fulfilled it. Alter Bridge is awesome though, so maybe some of those elements will carry over to Full Circle.

however, Creed has always annoyed me. even if this is an improvment, i'm going to do my best to ignore it.

What fucks me up is how so many will barely give this band their due--because of Stapp's egotistic and bull-headed honesty...or some skate punk's cynical need to diss a band to sound important with his friends. CREED IS AN EXTREMELY TALENTED AND ROCKING BAND!!! And, although I'm awaiting for anything to be released by Alter Bridge, it is good to see people come back together again and do what they do best.

I will buy the new release, no question. As for the pukes who find some need to hate this group, I'm sure that Creed doesn't give a shit about you either.

Exactly. He's a talented guitarist, but he still writes relatively unoriginal material (in both of his bands). This album will be bad not just because of Scott Stapp (although he certainly helps); I'm certain it will be a group effort.
