Hooverphonic Lose Vocalist 2009-04-09 by Trey Spencer STAFF | 9 Replies | 1100 Views |
Strange trip hop band Hooverphonic has posted a message on their website that long-time vocaist Geike Arnaert has quit the band. The reason behind the departure was Geike's desire to work on her solo material (no word on what direction that will take).
Although she has been in the band for the last ten years she is not the first vocalist to leave. Their original vocalist, Liesje Sadonius, left the band shortly after the release of their debut. After her departure Kyoko Baertsoen (Lunascape) filled-in on vocals until Geike Arnaert joined in 1998.
The band is now looking for a replacement vocalist (male or female). Interested parties should send an updated CV, as well as an mp3 and picture to: audition@hooverphonic.com

That sucks. (The news is slightly old, but I missed it somehow).

Something new is coming from her, because her site is currently "under construction".

Shame. She has a rather sexy voice. Maybe the solo stuff will be worth checking out.

You know I'll be on top of whatever she releases and whoring it here.

Aw, poo, she was the only thing that made Hooverphonic stand out a bit in the trip-hop scene (the guys make solid music but derivative of MA/Portishead/Tricky).

But wasn't this announced a while ago already?
Still... sad news. I loved her voice.

It was announced at near the end of the year, but the vocalist search is ongoing. Plus, we missed both news items anyway.
