Dead Poetic Not Broken Up Yet

2007-12-29 by AmericnZero02 | 5 Comments
Contrary to previous statements from other members of the band, Dead Poetic has not broken up. After personal problems amongst members and the departure of guitarist Dustry Redmon to join The Almost, the remaining members concluded that the band was finished. However recently Lead vocalist Brandon Rike has stated that Dead Poetic will in fact be putting out a fourth album. Rike has made amends to his relationships with the rest of his band and they collectively agreed to fulfill their contract with Tooth & Nail Records and relase one more album but plan to not tour at all to support it.

In his rather lengthy statement, Rike writes about what seems like everything that has gone through his head since the recording of the band's sophomore album "New Medicines." Addressed topics include the current state of the band and why Rike thinks it would have been best if Dead Poetic broke up years ago.

The statement can be read at the band's official website:

This

Rike's wishes that the band's most recent album "Vices" had never been written.

seems a bit at odds with this
The majority of our fan base did not "get" Vices. Silly us, for creating music we liked, with disregard for what people wanted us to create. We stand by the album, and are extremely proud of it.
I fixed it, but this is what i had in mind when I initially wrote that:

"The high point of our bands success was in 2004 with the release of New Medicines. This was the worst year of my life. My band was falling apart, causing me to lose two of my best friends, Chad and Josh. In hindsight, friendship was much more important than any progression of our band. The right thing to do would have been to call it quits before New Medicines ever happened - this would have saved me, and them, a tremendous amount of grief. I have to live with it, I suppose."

Old story, loved New Medicines, not that big of a Vices fan.

It was nice in a wierd way to read that, brutally honest band memeber.

I wish them all luck in the future endevors.
