YES
| |
!!!!
| |
And as per usual it slaps omega hard, maybe only bested by some stuff off of their last album imo
| |
Aoty probably
| |
I refuse to jam this until the album comes out. I can't only be blown to smithereens by one song. I NEED THE WHOLE DAMN THING.
| |
Their first good song, congratulations to the bald boys
| |
"Their first good song, congratulations to the bald boys" lol
| |
This was pretty outstanding
| |
Single art should have been the official album art but that's my only complaint. Song and band absolutely destroy planets m/
| |
Excellent start from what is to come
| |
"Aoty probably"
This is some of their best material yet, the single is definitely giving me "aoty" vibes
| |
All hail
| |
well that fucking ruled as per usual, especially liked some of the groove in the second half of the song
| |
Ruled really hard. Stoked for this. God damn these dudes rule
| |
Not a huge fan on the band, but this is the most structured thing they ever let out, without any discount whatsoever.
Rips.
| |
Still better than Six Feet Under
| |
Not listening right now for reasons, but glad to read these comments
| |
Normally fall asleep watching y'all bend over backwards for these guys
but this one was kinda awesome
| |
Feels a smidge catchier than usual, good for them! Always love their work.
| |
I’m all for their more melodic bent and appreciate a continuation / development of that sound. Enjoy the prod on this track too (often an issue with these guys). Very encouraging signs
| |
Wish I could dig this as much as the rest of yall. Just not my brand. Impressive band though for sure.
| |
band has one of the best discographies in all of metal
| |
awesome
| |
Aint bending over backwards johnny. It's easy to love these guys' output for me
| |
Pretty sure we all bend forwards for this band
| |
My body ws not ready for this.
| |
those two comments back to back are hilarious ^^
| |
Not blown away by this by any means but a good song nonetheless. I wish them continued success though the album's theme is questionable...
| |
What theme lol
| |
"though the album's theme is questionable..."
Lmao wut
Song rips
| |
the theme of (presumably)... atheism? Shocking
| |
What a weird hang up to have on a death metal album
| |
"What theme lol"
Diablo IV
| |
"Cutting the Throat of God" explores a cohesive lyrical theme centered around the rupture of morality, the delicate boundary between depravity and extremity, and the irreversible descent into darkness."
| |
diablo iv it is
| |
why would they pick the worst diablo smdh
| |
three was pretty bad as well, in hindsight
| |
"Song and band absolutely destroy planets"
No, they destroy ALL!!!
| |
Dang so there are only 2 good Diablo games
| |
nah 3 is good in short bursts as a couch co-op kinda thing. strayed too far from god but fun for what it is
4 is just rough and needs to go back in the oven for a while
| |

I swear this exact blurb could be written for a My Chemical Romance album
| |
I heard Elon Musk has spent like 800 hours grinding diablo iv lmao
Cool song gj Mr ulcerate
| |
"Stare Into Death..." is superbly mixed and produced, never got the hate concerning that. The cleans on that record are some of the coldest and most despondent tones I've heard.
Since that's one of the best DM records around, sure will be a tall order to top it.
| |
Bloc, as an MCR fan, if they released that blurb, I’d wonder what the fuck was going on.
| |
Bloc is a terminal ulcerate hater, pay you no mind
| |
Or, "ulcerhater", if you will
| |
This is the third album in a row he's been like "wow, they added melody!" maybe he's just a silly duffer
| |
This song is really good though ngl, might end up changing my mind for the first time ever.
| |
it would make you a better man, but I'll believe it when I see it. Looking forward to that shiny positive rating (on RYM of course!)
| |
If this new song is anything to go by, the new album should be excellent
| |
New song is cool but I feel like this band is approaching the need for a little change. It's still awesome but nothing new
| |
sounds a lil' different to me
the drum patterns, the prod, maybe even the vocals to an extent
| |
This has potential to be their most accessible album yet which is a good thing imo
| |
I did write them a strongly worded email last year asking them to make an album I would actually like
| |
per my last email energy
| |
I remember messaging misha mansoor to keep his shitty demos on his computer but the fuckwit still released them
| |
You know that email went right to his spam folder
| |
that was on myspace
| |
Well then that was very rude of him not to oblige.
My email to Ulcerate was pretty brief but listening to this song shows my message got to them.
| |

Thank you for your contributions, look forward to seeing you in the thank you section of the liner notes!
| |
I requested they keep me as an anonymous advisor so I doubt my name will show up
| |
shortening the neck of hoggard
| |
more ulcerated kino
| |
Hoggard really getting nuts on this one, can't wait for the album.
| |
Their first good song since 2009, nice
production doesn't sound like complete ass too, impressive
| |
how does this compare to sleep token tho?
| |
They both play instruments
| |
I dont understand how people are saying this is some return to form or some standout song thats better than their last couple of albums, this is exactly their sound as it typically is and has been for the last 3 albums more or less, thats a good thing and I wouldn't have it any other way. But if you like this and somehow not their last few albums I really just don't understand that take haha.
"This has potential to be their most accessible album yet which is a good thing imo"
Their last album was very accessible as far as this genre can be, not seeing how this song is any kind of indicator of a change in their sound.
| |
Ulcerate do seem to attract a disproportionate amount of "everything they've done sucks but this is promising" sentiments.
| |
And it happens with every album lol
| |
Kinda like Hawks loving everything in meshuggah's discog but randomly thinking obzen was trash (which has since been remedied)
Love u hawks
| |
band is the definition of throwing shit on the wall and seeing what sticks
| |
There it is
| |
"Ulcerate do seem to attract a disproportionate amount of "everything they've done sucks but this is promising" sentiments."
which is bat-shit crazy because this is in the exact vein of everything they've done prior
| |
Yeah I don’t really see much of a difference in this other than maybe not being as raw? But even then their production has been pretty shiny post like vermis
| |
Kinda what I thought but I dont analyze everything with music theory in mind so idk
| |
J Saint Merat is just so talented on the drums, on another level, guitarist Michael Hoggard is phenomenal too
| |
Yeah guitar work is absurd, especially considering everything he writes is so dissonant and weird, I wish I could play this stuff.
| |
J Saint Merat is a huge differential for Ulcerate. One of the best drummers alive rn. I hope new album is a return to form after the bland auto-pilot (yet still great) that was Stare... (I'm going to get roasted hard...)
PS: Really liked this new track, it sounds more like Shrines than Stare, which is what I wish for, Shrines being my fav Ulcerate
| |

| |
"band is the definition of throwing shit on the wall and seeing what sticks"
Well, it all sticks. So what's the problem?
| |
This song is so melodic, I wouldn't be surprised if they start replacing snare hits with handclaps on the new album
| |
When we getting that stomp clap hey ulcerate album
| |
"I wouldn't be surprised if they start replacing snare hits with handclaps on the new album"
If Satan's Penguins could pull it off it'll be a piece of cake for Ulcerate
