It's cool to see Gabe Mangold focusing on writing a more coherent song for once. It works well. Though my boy's vocals are dogshit as they always were.

Aight so I listened to the song and the video is pretty corny (seeing the silhouette of Alex headbanging is unintentionally hilarious) but the song isn't that bad

Re Ex-Atreyu - i figured it would make more people click if it mentioned Atreyu rather than just saying Dead Icarus

To be fair, they did also put it in the video title and thumbnail so I don't think that's on you lmao

All good Lelle, we were actually making fun of the Youtube video title itself, not the Sputnik article.

Sorry but this dude has always had the weakest fucking screams. They sound worse than ever here. Like a young teenager imitating their favorite screamo band.

This is better than anything Atreyu has put out since he left but that’s not saying much.

Well, single-handedly inventing Metalcore gives a mofo bragging rights in perpetuity.

Idk I think he has a good voice for hardcore punk. It's ugly but in a good way. Some of the music and lyrics and recordings quality said voice has been involved in is another matter

I really loved what Varkatzas brought to Atreyu!
I just don't think it works on it's own...

Drums are nice, the mix is solid, the fills and riffs do me the pitter patter just fine. Over time some metal and hard rock vocalists just lose their punch, a natural consequence of ripping it over many years. An honorable RIP to Varkatzas.

If u people knew anything u would know I love DH minus the new one lol. Also I don't "love" Atreyu by any means but they definitely have some bangers.

does this Vartkatzas guy not acknowledge the dozens of metalcore bands that came before atreyu?

he's adressed that metalcore comment in recent interview. it was basically clickbait intended to get Atreyu attention. he regrets saying that now

It's not bad, there's just no need for this song. I mean the music is ok but there's just nothing that stands out. The vocals are bland and feel strained unfortunately, that's def the weakest part of the song.

The name Vartkatzas sounds like a mid level boss in GTA 3 or some shit
