Like Moths to Flames Cope

2024-03-08 by SaiseiTunes CONTRIBUTOR | 36 Comments
US metalcore band Like Moths to Flames have announced their 6th full-length album, The Cycles of Trying to Cope. The album will be released under UNFD, and will contain the previously released singles "Paradigm Trigger" and "Angels Weep".

Vocalist Chris Roetter has stated, "The record encapsulates the many varying emotions we go through when trying to grow through life. The last few years, I really tried to harness some of those emotions as a catalyst to get through whatever I was going through at the time. I think we all have our own unique ways to cope and these are mine."

In conjunction with the announcement, a new single, titled "Kintsugi", has been released. The Cycles of Trying to Cope will be released May 10th.

I haven't heard any of the new singles yet. Furthest I've gotten are the two standalones they released in 2023. That being said, they've been on a hot streak, so I have high hopes. Gonna try and listen to the new singles today

the name of this lp is kinda hilarious and i have not heard this specific single (which from what ive heard about it doesnt rlly sound like itll be my jam) but the leadoff was their best song to date so ill give it a shot. could be their first worthwhile album maybe

I mean, No Eternity in Gold was pretty solid. Same with the Pure Like Porcelain EP

but thats an ep!! it's good tho ye

last album was a soft 3 for me so i cant really rep or come back to it but its still prob their best until now and seems to have been a necessary stepping stone to get here

That's fair. Honestly LMTF's whole evolution has been a blast to see, considering they were just a cookie cutter core band for a good portion of their lifetime (of course, you could argue they're still cookie cutter, just of a different sort, but it's good cookies this time, so)

Very hyped for this. New single is still growing on me but the first two were outstanding.

Kintsugi isn't bad, but compared to the first two flamethrower tracks, it's easily the worst of the three so far.

Feels more Dark Divine-ish. Not bad, but definitely is gonna take some time grow on me

Also, unrelated note, I wanted to name the article "Like Moths to Flames are Coping", but I didn't have enough characters to write it all out

If you were referring to their first couple records, I might agree with the "typical scenecore crap" critique but this band has expanding to more a riff-based sound rather than the chuggy chuggys around every corner. It's a much more mature sound but obviously if you have pre-conceived notions, I doubt I would be able to change your mind lol

I respect the fact that they grinded long enough to git gud instead of just breaking up and leaving behind a bunch of mediocre albums

Listened to all 3 tracks and missed the “riffs” you mentioned. All chugs and buttrock shit. The breakdowns are especially uninspired

Okay firstly wtf is this mix? Secondly uhm....i really hope these guys find a way to break out of being a cookie cutter band. This is just standard hope-core which is fine as long as it helps people get through tough shit. Seriously what is this mix. It sounds so odd it feels like synths then vocals, then drums then guitars are on the lowest side

Ectier have you checked the other 2 singles? I think they are a little less cookie cutter than this one. Mix isn't that great I defs agree with that.

finally jamming this and ngl its a much better "radio" song than most of these bands go for. i fucked with it. some nice leads going on and the lil bursts of intensity go a long way

i guess this really will be their first album i dig lol
