pretty gud doesn't hype me tho like Fiction and prior releases
| |
Not digging it at all. Feels very lazy for their standards. If the remaining songs will have similar quality it might be the first DT album I won't enjoy.
| |
Great song. Very much digging the atmosphere. The keys and synths remind me of their '00s work.
| |
I really dig this, but after Fiction I have not liked anything else they've released, so I'm not gonna be hyped.... yet.
| |
Overrated band.
I'm kidding. :p
| |
Yeah kinda boring
| |
Band has been on autopilot for a while
| |
The opening riff is decent but doesn't really evolve into anything. As usual they are reliant on the keyboards to create the melody. Hoping the rest of the album has better guitar-driven melodies.
| |
But it's true that it is the definition of an autopilot song.
| |
Hey ChatGPT, write a Dark Tranquility song
| |
This is exactly what everyone expected
| |
boring as expected. band is washed no reason to listen past fiction tbh
| |
This has been a very consistent 3.5/4 band for me but I'm just not feeling this song. As others have stated, just feels a bit stale.
| |
I'm liking it quite a bit, but yeah, familiar territory.
| |
"band is washed"
When original members start leaving and the band starts recruiting hired guns, it's usually a sign that the spark is gone and it's strictly business
| |
haven't kept up with their line up changes but that checks out based on the tunes
| |
I actually liked this
| |
It's certainly not a bad song. I personally just miss the Damage Done through Fiction era where they combined top tier riffing with excellent song writing.
| |
I haven't been this disappointed in a dark tranquillity song since they dropped Terminus
| |
definition of 'meh'
| |
Intro hinted at something more but overall I don't dislike this. They claim it'll be a very varied record so who knows, maybe there will be surprises. Anyway cover art kinda slaps (band logo looks like random photoshop tho lol)
| |
ok song, lovely aw
| |
Gets better on 2nd listen but still kinda meh.
| |
The main riff isn't bad but yea something about this just feels soooo boring. They definitely lost their intensity after Fiction
| |
fairly one-dimensional soundscape, just very bassy and dark, not a big fan.
| |
so glad nothing that interesting coming out in march
| |
Surprised Stanne is going back to this given how much hype THE were getting, but I guess Brandstrom’s gotta eat too.
| |
Better than expected
| |
this is really eh even for modern DT imo. idk nothing remotely remarkable about this song
| |
Band is basically a whole new line up, minus the singer.
| |
No wonder they sound good now
| |
it's alright
| |
Eh.
I like it but I don't. The main riff feels out of place, and sounds like it should go into something more but it doesn't.
Hopefully the rest of the album is better. I generally like their new sound, but I'd much rather listen to the Halo Effect than this.
| |
I inevitably end up enjoying pretty much all of DT's albums, but the Halo Effect blew recent DT releases out of the water
| |
Construct and Atoma are better than Fiction so idk what you bozos are talking about
| |
Dunno the song feels unremarkable, even blander than we are the void stuff tbh
| |
Intro is the best part. Tentatively hopeful that I'll enjoy this more than Moment
| |
"Construct and Atoma are better than Fiction so idk what you bozos are talking about"
Construct is good but definitely not better than fiction. Atoma is very ok with some cool stuff here and there
| |
So many varied opinions. I thought Halo Effect was way overrated and doesn’t touch any DT.
| |
I didn't like Halo either and this band really wore thin for me after Fiction. I think the problem is even though they are very consistent, they peaked too hard in the early 2000s and they just can't top that era
| |
When it comes to DT damage done, character and fiction can't be touched
some good stuff after that here and there but not close
| |
fiction is meh what about the gallery
| |
gallery beats the living shit out of fiction, no contest
| |
Pretty good. Love the production, really dense and rough sounding in a good way.
These guys peaked at Fiction for me, they'll never top it.
| |
I wish they relied less on choruses in every song these days, If I remember correctly there wasn't a single chorus on The Gallery, it just seems lazy now. I'll still probably jam the hell out of the album anyway
| |
They've had relatively generic song structures since Haven. While I would totally welcome a change I don't think it's necessarily the problem. In my opinion the problem is simply that they don't write or develop good riffs anymore. They find a simple hook and repeat it ad infinitum or rely on lame keyboard melodies.
| |
What made this band so great is how different their albums were from each other up until Character, and yet they all had that distinctive DT signature sound.
From that onwards little to nothing has changed, even if it worked wonders at first.
| |
I first got Character when it came out but early DT does nothing for me. Too boring. After Fiction I dropped off and only felt the need to listen again at Moment which ended up my AOTY for 2020. Went back and enjoyed the few albums preceding. This new song is ok and have no issues with their melancholic direction. The guitars are still prominent and that first riff is niice
| |
Calling early DT boring in favor of the later stuff is kinda crazy
| |
Ik most peeps would disagree
| |
It's me, I'm most peeps

This 100%
| |
Don't care about anything pre damage done. A few cool tracks on Haven but I can get my fix just fine within DD, Character and Fiction. Those three albums are peak DT. Everything else is just icing on cake.
| |
I always catch a lot of shit when I say it here lol... but I still maintain that the gallery isn't what it's hyped up to be here. I still think peak DT is for sure DD to fiction
| |
fiction is worse than damage done or character yeah
| |
The gallery being the best is fiction
| |
LULW
| |
My favorite era is Projector-Fiction, with Projector, Haven and Character being the highlights there. Really think they found their trademark sound in that stretch that separates them from their peers
| |
I don’t think there are any albums that sound like The Gallery
And The Mind’s I has more of the riffing style that people associate with melodeath but it def takes a more unique approach to songwriting than a lot of their peers at the time
| |
Character is what got me into guttural vocals so I'll forever have that album, and Lost to Apathy in particular, close to my heart.
| |
Character was my intro to DT (and melodic DM in general), which I discovered about the time it released. That album will always occupy my top 3 favorite albums of all time.
| |
I really like the new single. I thought it was kind of bland at first, but it continues to grow on me with each listen.
| |
It gets worse for every listen for me :/
| |
Need some time signature changes or big moments. This plays so samey throughout.
| |
Well hopefully it's one of the weakest songs on the album.
| |
