Paradox drummer dies aged 59 2023-09-15 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 5 Comments | Axel Blaha, drummer and co-founder of the German thrash metal band Paradox, has passed away at age 59. Paradox’s Charly Steinhauer issued the following statement:
“Dear fans and friends
It is with unbearable pain that I have to tell you the following news.
AXEL BLAHA, co-founder and drummer of PARADOX, passed away yesterday at the age of 59.
After over 30 years he returned to PARADOX for the current album HERESYII - End Of A Legend (2021). He plays drums on our two classics "PRODUCT OF IMAGINATION" (1987) and "HERESY" (1989).
AXEL was my lifelong friend and like a real brother to me. When we formed the band in 1981, we didn't know that what we were doing would one day reach fans all over the world. AXEL couldn't play drums and I couldn't play guitar, but we still formed a band because we loved this music. Within 5 years we had a worldwide record deal. Without AXEL there would be no PARADOX. Our great close friendship has developed in us the passion that it takes to achieve something like this.
With deepest sadness R.I.P. AXEL
We miss you sooo much!!
You will always have a big place in my heart.”
