I remember someone saying in a comment somewhere they recorded 14 more songs apparently, so probably a new album will be released at some point.

The Last Two Pages, I suppose
|
| |
Would've been the best tracks in the album for sure
|
| |
Two really good songs here, huh.
|
| |
commence redemption arc
|
| |
yawn
|
| |
you made up your mind before you even listened, who are you kidding
|
| |
considering I haven't enjoyed anything they've done since a few tracks on HV, it's very hard not to be skeptical about their output before hitting play
|
| |
These are both as phoned in and boring as the album :/

"I remember someone saying in a comment somewhere they recorded 14 more songs apparently, so probably a new album will be released at some point."
yes that was me i think, can't remember where i read it but it def came from someone in the band. i wanna say that the alphabet now makes 7(?) new non-frankenstein songs they've performed live and/or released a studio recording of

sleep well beast is the last good album
|
| |
Alphabet City isn’t bad actually, but I feel like his singing style is starting to limit the bands creativity at this point. Sleep Well Beast is the last great album however I did like Alien and Grease in your hair on The last two pages….
|
| |
don't really listen to these guys anymore, but the two singles are pretty solid
|
| |
ever since the percussion became more sparse the band got a lot less interesting
|
| |
^ that, like christ you have one of the best indie rock drummers ever on the kit, use him
|
| |
Well I was ready to write these guys off after the last mediocre album and now they suddenly drop 2 new tracks which are much better than the new album, what the hell is going on?
|
| |
Space Invader hits me so hard and I have cried.
|
| |
The second half of space invader is pretty much drum-led, so they’re headed in the right direction! Both these songs are more interesting than anything off the last album for sure.
|
| |
"ever since the percussion became more sparse the band got a lot less interesting"
^ that's a great point. Drums (especially on Boxer) is what got me into these guys in the first place.
|
| |
Decent tracks. I might even learn to love this but their recent records are the vapidest shit I've heard in my life, it's gonna take a while to get over the breakup with these guys.

“ I feel like his singing style is starting to limit the bands creativity at this point”
While like that Matt’s been gradually increasing his range, i think his bread and butter is his lower range. I think refining that and increasing the intimacy of his style is the direction I’d like to hear. I’ve always wanted a full album in the style of the Virginia EP
