| |
Noooooooooo that's too far away
| |
yes boys. group hug
| |
did they finally bury the hatchet or is this strictly a business thing?
| |
!!!
| |
it will be interesting to see if they will continue after this - maybe even some new music? - or if this is a one time thing
| |
everybody's reaction at this gig will be "what is kanye doing here?"
| |
it's Ye, don't dead name. A collab would be lit tho
| |
if I was still 15 this would be amazing news
| |
come on don't be like that. Admit this is mildly exciting
| |
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAGHHHHHHHHH
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
| |
in GERMANY? you FUCKS
they better play US shows
| |
agalloch are like what ends when the symbols shatter but better, which in turn is way better than 99.9% of bm
| |
damn the location of that fest looks lit
| |
Exciting news, but did they ever clear up the nazi stuff lol
| |
might be a strong label, but yes:

"agalloch are like what ends when the symbols shatter but better, which in turn is way better than 99.9% of bm"
There's only like two EPs they put out where you could make that comparison.
| |
The best part of this news is that they're replacing Aesop.
| |
>There's only like two EPs they put out where you could make that comparison.
compare "he's disabled" with half the song on the mentle lmao
| |
I mean, yeah, The Mantle is the most neo-folk influenced of their full-lengths, but that's still a stretch. All their albums are pretty different from one another, for better or for worse.
| |
true but this site constantly circlejerks over the mentle even though fail porklore and ashes are better
| |
Agreed hard.
| |
ehh I feel like everyone circle jerks and counter-circle jerks all of their albums in equal measure
| |
but the real fans know Marrow is top tier
| |
@Essence
Thanks for sharing, happy to hear that got cleared up.
Here's to hoping they have a couple of dates around the US. They are pretty cool live
| |
Holy shiiiii-
| |
ashes is their best yeah.
I would also like to say that I have seen them live already and it was great.
| |
hating on the mantle? blasphemy
| |
Well, this was something that I was not expecting to hear today, or ever in matter of fact.
| |
I was honestly really disappointed with their live show but idk if that's because they suck live or if it was because it was the support tour for The Serpent and the Sphere so the songs themselves blow. Aesop's funny faces were the best part of it.
| |
swag
| |
I saw them in Raleigh NC with Worm Ouroborus, which I’m pretty sure was 2010. it was in support of marrow which I still don’t really like but I have strong memories of them playing dead winter days, in the shadow of our pale companion, and falling snow which made it 100% worth it.
| |
"true but this site constantly circlejerks over the mentle even though fail porklore and ashes are better"
this is the take + neofolk/bm was a gross genre blend from the get go
| |
seeing them perform Falling Snow on one of their last tours was as amazing as you can imagine
| |
@Crysis
I've seen them twice and it can be a bit of a mixed bag. First time I saw them was in 2009(?) and it ruled. Then I saw them in support of Marrow, I think, and it was still good but less so. Hoping they throw all of the Serpent and the Sphere songs out the window because that album is ass
| |
Yeah I would have killed to see them pre-Marrow but I was living a long ways away from their tour stops at the time and was poor AF so it never worked out. The only real standout from the set in 2014 was The Melancholy Spirit, that was pretty cool. Obviously all of the songs from The Serpent and the Sphere were godawful, listening to Plateau of the Ages as their encore is probably the single worst live experience I can remember.
Obsidian Tongue opened and John Haughm did vocals for A Nest of Ravens in the Throat of Time, that was incredible and better than anything on Agalloch's set.
| |
Seen them live four times. First time was transcendent (shortly after Ashes came out, I think), but each set has been kind of progressively less good after that. Largely sound and setlist gripes, though. Their sound when they played MDF as a replacement for Ulver was god-fucking-awful.
| |
Caught them between Marrow and Serpent, and it was one of the best live shows of my life.
| |
Didn’t Haughm join Nazbol Gang?
| |
never seeing Ag is a big hole in my life
they better come to the US [2]
| |
Great news, with how things ended I thought they'd never get back together. Will probably fly out to see them whenever they tour the states
| |
They supposedly considered Coachella for this reunion
| |
These people need to wipe the slate clean and get back together. I want a redemption arc
| |
I guess i got lucky because for me their live show was one of the most memorable ones ive ever been to.
| |
Well now that's some news
| |
From an interview with Don regarding the "issue":
"I am really happy to say that, yes, things have changed for the better. [Former Agalloch frontman] John [Haughm] and I remained in contact all through the three years following the breakup, but it was all business. Gradually, those emails became more casual and we were both moving towards finally meeting and hashing things out — essentially doing away with the weight that had been burdening our shoulders for years. I carried a great deal of bitterness and hurt during those years and eventually I got tired of it. I know John was tired of it, too. Then he made that anti-Semitic comment on Facebook that I, Jason, and Aesop condemned. We still condemn it. But, I think it’s critical that our culture does more than “call out” bad behavior, but tries to call someone in and discuss things like this. The first person I emailed after our statement condemning the comment was John. John’s comment accelerated our meeting and we not only talked about the breakup, but we talked about his comment. We discussed the ways it was harmful. I’m not defending him in this regard, but having been close friends with him for over twenty years and this being the first time I had ever seen him say anything anti-Semitic, I felt it necessary to talk with him and reach an understanding. I know John regrets the comment. Through all this I’ve learned a lot about forgiveness and compassion, and I think that goes for John as well."
| |
Yo if this leads to new music, I’ll have to get new pants.
Also, maybe we’ll get some vinyl re-releases!
| |
Sign me up for any new music by these guys, they were severly missed and if anything is the works I'm sure they would approach it the right way and give us something refreshing
| |
Lead singer seemed to always have his head up his own ass. Hopefully he's gained some humility in the years since the split.
All they gotta do is go out and play the hits.
| |
Yooooo that's cool. This was one of those bands Sput has always had a boanar for, so much that I associate the band with 2008 Sput lol
| |
thanks for relaying that, DB. Don's side checks out for me.
| |
Oh shit yeah!
Aussie tour... at some point. Please
| |
Love some of their material, but they were so boring live. I stayed for like two songs lol.
