I was about to do an article on this and you beat me to the punch, lol
Great song though

I think I'm going to like Fossora much more than Utopia. Single is heaps of fun.
| |
thank you mother for my life
| |
Wow. Impressive. After decades she still remains highly relevant and challenging. One of the greatest artists of all time.
| |
Track is straight fire. Stoked for the album.
| |
I loved Utopia but this rules too
| |
Interesting woman.
| |
the wind instruments sound weird to me but otherwise this bops so hard
| |
excited excited interested intrigued
| |
lyrics remind me of Greta Thunberg
| |
How dare you.
| |
bjork's not as scary as greta thunberg
| |
whoever her music video producer is he consumes too much mescaline to the point he's become a marionette of mescaline rather than be able to cast his own vision, decent on first viewings, kinda meh in the long run
| |
album art is so sick
| |
This is what I'm talking about, Utopia sounding like just a brief misstep.
| |
Is it just me or does every Björk song post-Medulla (going on 18 years wow) just have the same vocal intonation and melody? Everytime a new project comes out I get a little excited but I find that her vocal melodies are just the same again and again, new song included, while she used to have the most amazing melodies that would vary from song to song on her first few albums. The production and arrangements have continued to be interesting and challenging but her vocal range is so predictable and boring, which is kind of a crazy thing to say about Björk.
| |
The part which appears to be the bridge is absolutely stellar. As much as I genuinely despise that reggaeton beat for it's overuse in modern day music, I appreciate her even more for putting it in such an unusual context. Interesting.
| |
@outreblah your not alone i feel you on this.
| |
"Is it just me or does every Björk song post-Medulla (going on 18 years wow) just have the same vocal intonation and melody"
My wife said this exact same thing when the song came on. I could hear it as well.
| |
aw man the album art I saw was not the actual album art, bummer. one I saw was way better
| |
Bit Volta, bit Medulla, love it. Hope the album follows this general style.
| |
yeah the halting cadence thing really drags the song down. just makes it seem like she can't figure out how to phrase vocal lines within melody anymore
| |
Liking it!
| |
just listened and i think it is interesting and good
| |
Has anybody made a pun about tapas yet
| |
It’s no Alegria
| |
Glad other people are starting to notice that every single Bork song in the last two decades is literally the exact same vocal performance copy pasted indiscriminately over whatever happens to be the dumbest music she could think of at that time
| |
“interesting and good”
Sister lovin’ good!?
| |
L
| |
Medulla's all about vocal variation, if everything since then has been homogenous maybe she burnt herself out on it lol idk though I've only heard up to Volta
| |
Hearing this new song... the woodwinds all sound really depressed what is this
And why is hope a muscle
| |
don’t really see how those complains pertain to this particular track. I kind of hear it in Biophilia and Vulnicura though
| |
I'm sorry but I thought this was absolutely terrible :[ experimental artists be experimentin ig
| |
Making her songs worse to be 'unique'. Admirable.
| |
when the track came on i assumed it was a remix of a previous track bc the vocal mannerisms seemed so familiar.
| |
this sucks
| |
Nice
| |

Yep, that thought came up when listening to this before
| |
she records her vocals blind before even hearing the track I swear
| |
The only thing worse than the song is the music video tbh
| |
if you willingly watch a bjork music video that's on you
| |
Enjoyed the lyrics and instrumentation
| |
Those shitty discordant bass clarinets really hit the spot
| |
Damn dewi put so many skill points into perception he had nothing left for resilience
| |
you put so many points into attack you had nothing left for intelligence or charisma
| |
what are you trying to say jonathan
| |
AutoPoS
| |
After many listens I can confirm it is her best single since Crystalline, and hopes are high for the album.
| |
people on RYM really trying to call this avant-garde jazz lmao
| |
colton coming in clutch with the ruthless self-own
| |
Feels somewhere between BIOPHILIA and VULNICURA to me. BIOPHILIA, but with the darkness and energy of VULNICURA.
| |
“ this is automatically funnier if they're bassoons”
It really would
| |
“ people on RYM really trying to call this avant-garde jazz lmao”
🙄
| |
reminds me of these new puritans which should mean it's good but it's not good
| |
Atopos? More like Abottomos because I can't stop shaking my ass
| |
LOL pizza you must have some jalepeno on ya today cos that comment is deliciously tangy
| |
Bork sometimes give me shares of human too but she’s usually just a crude facsimile
| |
She’s like an aliens unconvincing approximation of a human approximating human music
| |
Yeah pretty much
| |
I think not having ears would render the prior qualifications rather arbitrary but somehow it’s still just so on point
| |
The bass clarinets definitely sound like they are just playing the loosely generated waveform version of an actual song
| |
This is literally just the Deep Dream Generator version of Cirque Du Soleil: Alegria
| |
“ she was better when her tunes made it sound like she had ears”

Honestly we need a staff member solely dedicated to giving bad reviews to all the trash the rest of staff hypes. I’d actually read those reviews.
| |
True that’s pretty masochistic
| |
i'll do it
| |
I guess it's better than that minimalist bassy stuff she's been doing. Her melodies feel so off, though.
