Drummer leaves Artifex Pereo 2017-01-07 by tellah | 11 Comments | Cory Eaves, drummer of Kentucky progressive rock band Artifex Pereo, is officially leaving the band. He performed on all three of the band's full length albums, including their most recent release, Passengers. Citing lingering back problems, he posted this statement on the band's Facebook page:
"For the past nine years, my life has revolved around Artifex Pereo. I've created the most magnificent memories with six humans who came into my life as complete strangers, only to follow a wonderful evolutionary path that has seen them become my family. With these dudes by my side, I have experienced so much beauty from behind my drum kit; more than I could have ever imagined. I am eternally grateful for that.
Most of you know that over the last two years, I've developed persistent back problems that have made it harder and harder to continue touring. The amount of positive momentum this band is carrying, coupled with the electric drive and motivation that resides within its members, is creating more opportunities for Artifex Pereo to grow and flourish every single day. They deserve someone who can and will give this band 100% of their mind, body and soul, which I can no longer do. Because of that, I'm stepping away from Artifex Pereo.
As saddened as I am to leave behind a life of travel, excitement, and adventure, I am enchanted with the idea of a stable lifestyle at home, with my ever supportive family, friends and girlfriend, and the opportunity to experience self-sustained financial stability for the first time in my life.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this crazy ride. In a time where so much of this world's art goes unappreciated and looked over, you continue to breathe life into this band, and the collective dream that it represents. Please, never stop.
With love,
Cory"

| | | He has a ton of stand-out moments on Time in Place. He'll be hard to replace
| | | Passengers was one of my favorite albums of 2016. It sucks that they had to lose one of their key members.

| | | That's really unfortunate... he killed it, especially live. Gonna be a hard person to replace but I'm sure the band will still be great.
| | | Band is severely underrated with 3 impressive full lengths. Glad to see some people discovering them from this news article
| | | Band is really underrated, hope they can find a decent replacement.
| | | A damn shame, the guy is one of the more interesting drummers right now.
