The Others of Intention pledge

2016-12-26 by Simon K. STAFF | 8 Comments
For anyone unfamilar with Dweezil Zappa, he is the son of the late Frank Zappa and has spent the last decade ensuring Frank Zappa's legacy lives on through his music with his Zappa Plays Zappa band. However, the Zappa family seems to be at war with each other recently, after the passing of Gail in October; after Gail's death Ahmet and Diva Zappa were left to handle the Zappa Estate. This has led to a legal battle between the beneficiaries and Dweezil (who, like Moon Zappa, has no control over the Estate) over the Zappa name. If Ahmet succeeds in this legal mess it will result in Zappa Plays Zappa commiting copyright infringement and Dweezil will be unable to continue playing his Father's music in the future.

Dweezil has opted to fight his corner and has recently opened up a Pledge campaign in the hope fans of Frank Zappa's music will support his continuing legal battle for the use of his name. The pledge is fittingly titled 'Dweezil Zappa & The Others of Intention', and there are various rewards for your support. The campaign has 79 days left and his goal is at 52%. For anyone that's been living under a rock, they won't know that Frank Zappa's son, Dweezil, has spent the last decade ensuring Frank Zappa's legacy lives on through his music with Zappa Plays Zappa

You're using the term "living under a rock" extremely liberally here.

That is in no way common knowledge or frequently recognised news for anyone but dedicated Zappa fans.

That said this is pretty shit and hopefully it works out for Dweezil.

Also you've made a mistake, it's called "The Others of Intention", not invention.

Thanks for the news item and it's very good to know. It is such a shame when money gets in the way of family and art.

However, as OvDeath said, you're using the term "living under a rock" extremely liberally here. Personally, I am aware of Zappa Plays Zappa but I'm sure that there are people who live over rocks and don't know that.

And yeah, this news is extremely sad. Ahmet and Diva need a kick in the ass; Dweezil is the only one putting the graft in and he's getting fucked over for money. Hope he reaches his target.

Just thought I'd bump this to get anyone to help him reach his goal. Not long left and he's only at 90% : /
