Blackfield V detailed

2016-09-14 by Onirium | 6 Comments
Alternative/progressive rock duo Blackfield, formed by musicians Aviv Geffen and Steven Wilson, published significant details concerning their fifth record, aptly entitled "Blackfield V".
The album sees Geffen and Wilson returning to "full collaborative mode" for the first time in years, Geffen having taken a leading role on the band's previous two records.

Wilson described the album as "a flowing collection of 13 tracks with a loose concept relating to the cycle of life", while staying in line with the band's trademark "emphasis on succinct melancholic songs".

The album will be released on November 18 through Kscope records.

"Blackfield V" tracklist:

1. A Drop in the Ocean (1:23)
2. Family Man (3:37)
3. How Was Your Ride? (3:58)
4. We'll Never Be Apart (2:54)
5. Sorrys (2:58)
6. Life is an Ocean (3:26)
7. Lately (3:24)
8. October (3:31)
9. The Jackal (3:56)
10. Salt Water (2:39)
11. Undercover Heart (4:02)
12. Lonely Soul (3:42)
13. From 44 to 48 (4:31)

First several song titles make it seem like these dudes are having a love affair

Hmm, not that it's a bad thing (not at all, actually), but the songs' length is quite short, even for Blackfield's ''succint melancholic songs'' levels.

Hopefully this is better than the second half of their discography so far. Pretty steep drop in quality there.

Snippets i've heard weren't inspiring at all. I've really got my hopes up for a return to form as well.
