2016-08-20 by zaruyache | 21 Comments
Danish one-woman black metal band Myrkur has begun streaming its new live album, "Mausoleum" through Bandcamp.

Recorded in the Emanuel Vigeland Mausoleum in Oslo, Norway, "Mausoleum" features acoustic "reinventions" of seven songs from the band's debut album "M" from last year, one new track, and a Bathory cover track. All songs are accompanied by the Norwegian Girls Choir with ex-Ulver guitarist HÃ¥vard supplying additional guitar as well.

You can stream, download, and purchase the album and other merchandise through Myrkur's Bandcamp page, courtesy of Relapse Records.

I hope this isn't as mind boggingly average as the last one

Gonna at least give this a shot. I don't think the album or the EP are as bad as a lot of people make them out to be so this could actually be cool.

She's been nothing but mediocre since she started but this acoustic style might suit her better. I'll give it a shot

Gave the second track a listen and it's easily the best thing I've heard by her. Will listen to the rest when I have time

a nice rendition of Song To Hall Up High, although I would have liked to hear the full choir in the last verse.

Really impressed with these renditions

Hoping she goes full Garm and realizes that she should not be shackled to the female BM niche/gimmick. She honestly has potential to do something great.

This is great! I enjoyed it a lot, she has a beautiful voice that pairs really well with the piano/acoustic guitar.

would have rather heard these recorded properly rather than a live record which forces too much reverb on the vox and not enough depth and spacing in the mix. Otherwise could have been kveldessanger-ish

I think they were recorded properly; all that cavernous echoey junk makes it sounds spooooookyyyyyy.

In an age of studio trickery it's refreshing to hear live performances done this well. Can't really fake your way through one take.
