2016-05-24 by wtferrothorn | 39 Comments
Infamous electronic outfit The Avalanches have released a new video, entitled Since They Left Us. In this two minute teaser, the Australian group goes over the history of the making of the follow-up to their debut Since I Left You, which has reportedly been in the works since 2005. The video features appearances from Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux, Ariel Pink, Danny Brown, and Father John Misty; Herrema, Pink and Brown have been reported to have worked with the Avalanches. Back in April 2016, The Avalanches announced their return to the music world with some festival performances.

Update: You can hear a snippet of a new Avalanches song titled "Subways" via hotline. This number was found on a poster located in London; the number is +44 800 098 8938. The U.S. number is (855)953-3597.

One day someone will find my corpse deep in the underground after the riff wars and this album still wouldn't have been released.

btw there have been rumors that a new single may be released on Friday, with some credible evidence, so this release date might not be as far off as y'all are saying.

As quoted from Consequence of Sound:

"Unwilling to sit patiently, however, one Redditor has dug up a tantalizing possibility. Apparently, if you Shazam the song that starts at about 1:20 in the trailer, you get a result of “The Wizord of Iz” by BRAINZ. Interestingly enough, a band Brainz is found on Noise 11’s list of upcoming releases for May 20th, with a song called “Frank Sinatra” coming from Universal Australia. UA originally released Since I Left You, and Danny Brown said in a multiple interviews that his record with the band was called — wait for it — “Frank Sinatra”. Brown has also said that he recorded two tracks with the band, the other of which he proclaimed will “change the world.” Listen closely to the vocalized “Yeah!” and “Uh!” during what Shazam dubs “The Wizord of Iz” — that sure does sound like a familiar Detroit rapper."

in the facebook comments someone was banging on about how we need a Since I Left You vinyl reissue and they on point the prices for that are insane, and most of those pressings are pretty mediocre aside from the australian promo with all the original samples
