Chris DeGarmo back with The Rue

2015-06-22 by Trey STAFF | 9 Comments
Ex-Queensryche guitarist Chris DeGarmo has released an album under the name The Rue that features his 22-year-old daughter Rylie DeGarmo on vocals. The EP was recorded in Chris' basement studio in Seattle and features a mellow, indie/folk style that might surprise fans of his previous work.

Quote:
The Rue is a father-daughter project from Seattle, WA, featuring the collaborative efforts of Rylie (vocals) and Chris DeGarmo (guitar). Their just-completed debut EP is a six song, acoustic based vibe that demonstrates both Rylie's arresting vocal stylings and lyrical sophistication (the result of tastes spanning Billie Holiday to Ella Fitzgerald and Radiohead), as well as Chris' sparing but highly tasteful audio tapestries woven with any manner of stringed instruments. This is a recording to disappear into with each track pulling the listener further into it's delicate yet complex web.
The two have performed live together in the Breadline Performance Series at Vermillion, Seattle WA.
The Rue's first release, a self-titled EP, is now available! Writing has been in the works for a second compilation.

It's really good if you're into the indie folk kind of stuff. I like it.

DeGarmo couldn't have stayed away from music for too long. Song's aight, really like the chorus, and the artwork is cool. There's something lacking in her voice though imo.

From Billboard "Asked if he cares to elaborate on why he left Queensryche, Chris' response is a polite "No, thanks.""

It's probably not what you're expecting, but it's pretty good.

Always great to have Chris back in any capacity.
This isn't necessarily my cup o tea though.
Chorus is pretty catchy I have to admit.

Not my cup of tea [2] but I can see it growing if I'll ever give the chance.

Nothing of exceptional, but it's ok.

Not my cup of tea [3]

Isn't bad though, have a friend who might like this.

Here's hoping for a Ryche + Chris reunion somewhere down the line.
