Holy shit
| |
k
| |
song is a solid 7/10
| |
Have to say, a two minute Not The Sun knock-off was not what I hoped for after waiting six years. Still, hype for this album.
| |
Cool
| |
That was pleasurable. But did anyone else misread the n as another m the first time? Just wondering...
| |
Boring and overhyped to the max as expected. Absolutepunk numbskulls are eating this up like it's gold. Pathetic.
| |
Dank mene.
| |
Y'all's trippin
| |
This sounds nothing like Not The Sun
| |
there's no way a new album isn't coming out this year
| |
Song's pretty fuckin' sick.
| |
song is so good. production is perfect
| |
lol at the ending
| |
Pretty average, not going to lie.
| |
I'm trying to figure out what Jesse is saying in the 2nd verse? "I wana evade my thoughts, I wana die in Kyoto"?
| |
Boring shout along song, they're probably aiming for more radio friendly tracks. Hopefully not.
| |
this is the first time in fourteen years that it sounds like they're actually trying
and thats a bad thing
| |
I didn't care much for this upon first listen, but I jammed it a few more times and I like it okay. Seems like it's missing something, maybe just because it is short..
| |
there's just not much dynamic to the song. it's very boring in terms of songwriting.
| |
you're all overthinking this
| |
I mean this is okay but I hope the rest of the album will be a lot more engaging
| |
This is jerk worthy tbh
| |
Sputnik seems so salty lately
| |
Lol when isn't Sputnik salty...
| |
Started off so promising then got meh really quick
| |
I personally really liked this song, it sounds like a direction they could have taken following Deja Entendu, which follows up something Jesse said like three years ago that he feels that they've gone as far as they can on the musical journey they were on, and that they were going to go back and pretend they'd just written either Deja or Devil and God
| |
Hmm. I dig it. Just trying to picture how this fits into an album.
| |
song feels like an intro song. i bet the album sounds like all of their albums put into one. their Diamond Eyes
| |
song fuckin rules
they hype is real
| |
yeah i think this is great nothing special but still great
| |
nah
| |
It's okay
| |
"song feels like an intro song. i bet the album sounds like all of their albums put into one. their Diamond Eyes"
If that happened, it would automatically be at least 50% mediocre.
| |
my blender sounds more interesting
| |
This is great.
| |
Eh, I like it.
| |
This could easily be an MCR song. Still alright, I suppose. Kind of a lame return.
| |
i heard mcr the first time i listened too
also, the way he says something in the verses sounds like a sped up version of Holiday by green day
| |
too vague of a reference for me to feel insulted
| |
Can see it playing a similar role to "Rent I Pay" from that last Spoon album
| |
Was the KitnKaboodle commercial intentional? Free advertising? Sponsorship? Or just cats?
| |
Reminds me of the first track from Dark Side of the Moon tbh.
| |
Meh, hard.
| |
not bad, not amazing
| |
They've become a parody of themselves.
| |
Enjoyable tune, but very 'safe' in terms of songwriting, and not nearly as interesting as almost all their other songs.
| |
I feel like if it wasn't for the vocals, I wouldn't be able to recognize this as Brand New.
| |
A song
| |
borriiiiiiiinggggggggggggggggg
| |
not bad
| |
Song is ok, but definitely not blown away. Although, my exposure to brand new is limited, only listening to THe Devil and God like once. I'll keep an eye out for these guys.
| |
They've become a parody of themselves.
Genius.
| |
I don't feel anything
| |
"I don't feel anything"
lol
| |
I actually really dig this
| |
Pretty good song
| |
'Can see it playing a similar role to "Rent I Pay" from that last Spoon album'
I don't follow....
| |
Song is even more of a jam the more I listen, though I'm going to be self aware and say a lot of Brand New fans are gonna fucking love this (myself included maybe idk) just because it's safe, patented Brand New and they haven't had that for, like, six years.
| |
This could easily be an MCR song. Still alright, I suppose. Kind of a lame return. [2]
| |
Double post
| |
MCR
| |
meme Imo
| |
brand new dank meme
| |
Man, I think the songs pretty good, yall just cynical assballs
| |
HOLY MOLY SPAGHETTI AND RAVIOLI
| |
ehh kinda boring, was alright tho
| |
Some of y'all must've listened to too much My Chemical Romance if you're seeing similarities here.
| |
Wow....surprised to see so much hate towards the song. Sure, it's not the second coming of Christ, but it's actually pretty good.
I really enjoy the production in this.
| |
I like this too. Took less than one day to come around to it.
| |
meh, it's catchy but nothing else really
| |
Two minute little energetic burst of a song premiers. New album will suck, 1/5. Makes sense.
Ffs this place bothers me these days. I like this song a lot.
| |
read as "meme"
| |
[2]
| |
next song will be called tears don't melt steel beams
| |
"Two minute little energetic burst of a song premiers. New album will suck, 1/5. Makes sense."
You can't enjoy a song unless it shows a completely new and profound artistic direction, duh.
| |
They started as a pop-punk and then released a more alternative pop-punk album and then released two semi-"groundbreaking" alternative releases. Was there ever really a proper time to expect more out of a band whose front-man worships Morrissey?
| |
this is decent. kinda wish the hook went in a different direction but it's got energy to it. a bit like a mix of deja and daisy but it's its own beast
| |
Jessie cried on stage when I saw him. 'Nuff said.
| |
This was cool
| |
This song rules.
| |
Hey, not every fucking song has to be a work of art. Standard "scream along and lose yourself" punk is appreciated just as much, at least by myself.
Seems like a callback to Favorite Weapon though, which is an interesting turn for this band.
| |
i think a stripped down version of this a la out of range would sound amazing
| |
I think a version where Jesse gets really drunk and screams every word would be even better.
| |
isn't that this one
| |
Not bad, not great.
| |
"Isn't that this one."
Good point.
| |
This upsets me
| |
Intro sounds like Social Distortion's "She's a Knockout"
| |
song's pretty good, still hyped as hell for the album
| |
Ha! There ain't no album. They're just trolling.
| |
Meh.
| |
Song was great. Not their best, but great none the less.
| |
I actually really enjoyed it, could of been longer but the deja entendu feel of it I dig
| |
Song was only released to make GreenBaron have to start his song rankings list all over again.
| |
hehehehe
| |
Intro sounds like Social Distortion's "She's a Knockout"
Just listened, and both songs are eerily similar, I knew this song reminded me of some band and it was Social Distortion
| |
i dig this. nothing really special tho
| |
Not revolutionary, but who cares? Even if their next album sounds like Nickleback banging each other next to a running chainsaw, recorded through a toaster - this band gave us Daisy and The Devil and God, and that's more (for me) than most bands have ever done.
I'm hopeful.
| |
This is exactly the same knock off bilge with 'don't feel anything' hard 'feels' that litters the codswollop that is TDAG. You kids waking up yet????
| |
Why is the production so shit?
| |
bilge...? like, on a boat?
| |
Verses sound like emo R.E.M.
| |
I'm also glad that they're tuning down a half step again. For some bands, the sound from that tuning just works so well
| |
yeah, i always keep my guitar tuned down half a step, so if the whole album is the same it'll be convenient
| |
Song is good, not over the top but could be one of the minor tracks from Devil or one of the average from Deja... i think the new album will aim higher than this and Sputnik remains my favourite hater nest as always.
| |
6/10
| |
won't recapture deja or TDAG glory days...RIP
| |
yeah but it might be a better album
| |
I like the song, not amazing but it's catchy. It will be interesting to see where they go from here in terms of a full album. This was a far cry from the feel of Daisy, but who knows what's in store.
| |
nice mene where'd you get it
| |
This is really underwhelming...
| |
MCRs' finest
| |
MCRs' finest [2]
| |
Brb coming hard as I possibly can. Anticipating the new album more than just about any other album in my life.
| |
pretty good
| |
Also fuck all the underwhelming, boring, MCR whatever bullshit. Distinctly different from MCR, similiar in places, but also distinctly Brand New. Rad as fuck.
| |
Do we think this is from the new record or a one off like Fork and Knife?
| |
How is it dinstictly different from MCR when the high school vocal wailing spouting fake horsehit is thrown in your face?
| |
Because it is one verse in one Brand New song and MCR is definitely not the only band to do it.
You should be embarrassed that they are the band that sticks out in your mind the most.
| |
Didn't you get that memo about how My Chemical Romance were the first band to ever do vocals like that? They actually invented post hardcore bro. Didn't they become Quicksand later? Oh wait no, they formed Between the Buried and Me with ex members of Mogwai.
| |
MCR inventing post hardcore? It's been around since before they even existed.
| |
"MCR invented post-hardcore"-Probably the most ignorant comment i've read in quite some time.
| |
goddamn teenagers
| |
"Didn't you get that memo about how My Chemical Romance were the first band to ever do vocals like that? They actually invented post hardcore bro. Didn't they become Quicksand later? Oh wait no, they formed Between the Buried and Me with ex members of Mogwai."
how do u guys miss the sarcasm in this
| |
Pree good not bad looking forward to anything new from these guys though lol
| |
goddammit, jesse
| |
I just want a full album so bad
| |
...
| |
this is a lot tamer than i was expecting, shouting/screaming aside
second verse sounds like a mewithoutyou song
eh
| |
This is OK. Don't like the production on the drums. Also don't like how Jesse Lacey and Adam Lazzara both decided to adopt southern accents when singing for some reason.
| |
Nobody should've talked any shit. Jesse probably got embarrassed by the comments on the interwebs and can't write any more songs due to crippling anxiety.
In all seriousness though, I thought we'd have an album announcement by now and this kind of slipped away. It has been over 2 months.
| |
^ yeah its kind of ridiculous
| |
SO IS THIS HAPPENING OR WAT
| |
wat
| |
lol Jesse will probably scrap this album due to pressure. Meme and sad frog
| |
A song [2]
| |
Never seen people ride a band's dick so hard. I honestly don't care for them, but I wish I was Jesse because I'm sure he can get laid at any given moment.
Unlike myself who has to take my girlfriend out and spend money just to get a blowie.
| |
That comment was made longer than necessary I think.
| |
you wanna talk about it, DotEight?
| |
Your girlfriends sucks... after dinner.
Dump that gold digger and get one that wants it, Dot.
| |
DotEight? You mean DotHATE?
AMIRITE???
| |
Br& New.. y u do dis 2 me :'[
| |
Seeing them for the first time today after seven years of waiting. Hoping they'll jam some new stuff.
| |
The only new song you'll be hearing is Mene
| |
You mean Memé
| |
why is anything still going?
| |
This thread is still going because the site has a cumulative boner for BN
| |
How was it, toocool?
I skipped them in SLC this year. I'm boycotting a show until they come out with a new album. I've seen them plenty of times and if there's nothing new being brought to the table, I don't feel any need to see them again.
| |
tbh i think the hype for a new album has died since the band has basically dropped off the face of the earth musically
| |
@dbizzles
It was alright, but honestly nothing magical. Maybe I'd built my expectations too high, but Jesse had a really hard time hitting the higher ranges on songs like Degausser and You Won't Know, although his screams on Mene and Gasoline were frickin great.
They spent the first 3-4 songs doing B-Side and Daisy tracks, so the crowd was kinda out of it for the first 20 minutes and the energy never really came back. They played maybe 10 songs and an encore (Play Crack the Sky) then they were done.
I'm still happy I went, but like you said, I don't think I'll see them again unless I like the new album.
| |
That's a lame way to start a set. I saw them a couple yeas ago and it was pretty much the same. The crowd was insane though.
| |
Wow this new album is great I'm so stoked o got excited six months ago wow
| |
You didn't get the leak yet?
| |
I mean, who hasn't? It's the hottest mixtape of next year, this year.
| |
Not arsed reading the comments, has anyone made a pun for this yet?
| |
That's a lame way to start a set.
lol they're weeding out the false fans
| |
I suppose so, but no matter the caliber fan you are, you will always enjoy a show most when the band plays the songs you love the most.
| |
