R&R Hall of Fame 2015

2014-12-16 by beyondthethreshold13 | 38 Comments
Lou Reed, Green Day, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Bill Withers and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band will all join the class of
2015 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be held in Cleveland on April 15th, 2015.

Jett was surprised by the news, "It's surreal and humble", she said. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was enthusiastic about the news and said the band would try
to overcome their hiatus to perform at the ceremony. This news comes after the bassist Mike Dirnt's wife's ongoing battle with breast cancer and just a week after
second guitarist Jason White was diagnosed with tonsil cancer. Laurie Anderson has yet to comment on the induction of her deceased husband.

Congrats to the inductees, but still can't believe NIN didn't make it

You can't believe how an individual who's said/done controversial things who's music is in a genre that's widely not been accepted by the R&R Hall of Fame was not inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame?

Well when that individual's music garnered high critical acclaim though the 1990s and they placed 2nd in the fan poll for the nominees, then yeah, I am

I agree that Trent Reznor's resume and the fan support can speak for itself, but the R&R Hall of Fame has snubbed bands like Judas Priest, Deep Purple, The Smiths, Thin Lizzy ect ect ect. There's plenty of bands with accolades that get snubbed.

Just read that the fan poll only made up 1/600 of what they go by, the rest is industry/corporate people

Ugh

It's a crime that NIN didn't make it. I do respect Green Day for what they've done though.

I'm ecstatic that Green Day got in. I've been so sick of only seeing people talk crap about them for the last decade and I'm glad they're finally getting recognized for something. I would have never discovered some of their influences like Hüsker Dü and the Replacements if it wasn't for albums like "Insomniac" or "Kerplunk!".

I hope they never let fans decide who gets in. I think the voting can change, but I'd rather not be subjugated to the tyranny of the majority and have Bieber and Miley Cyrus inducted in 2025...

People praise the shit out of American Idiot, and it's a great album. Where have you been for the last 10 years?

Don't get me wrong, i'm happy Green Day is getting in, but they shouldn't be inducted before bands like Deep
Purple, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Judas Priest, and Nine Inch Nails

DP, Maiden and Priest are not American bands.
