New Pillows album 2014-09-25 by dimsim3478 | 10 Comments | To mark the completion of their 25th anniversary "Never Ending Story" campaign, legendary Japanese alternative rock trio The Pillows are releasing their 19th studio album entitled Moondust on October 22nd. Following up their 2012 album Trial, the new record will be supported by a 27-date tour national tour of Japan starting in December and taking the band through to March of next year.
The band's 25th anniversary has also entailed ten special dates between January and October, some of which included original bassist Kenji Ueda whose place in the band has never been officially filled since his departure in 1993. Starting in September of last year and finishing with the release of Moondust, the festivities of the "Never Ending Story" further included a cover/dance contest as well as the release of a tribute album, three DVDs and three new singles, the first of which was entitled "Happy Birthday". The release of "Happy Birthday" ended the band's hiatus following their Trial tour, which facilitated frontman Sawao Yamanaka and guitarist Yoshiaki Manabe's solo careers. Needless to say, with a year of celebration over and a long tour ahead of them, The Pillows are truly back in full swing.

Sweetness.
| | | Saw these guys live for their 25th anniversary tour, so good
Cover is eh, but for some reason I'm holding onto a shred of hope that this could be one of their best in the last few years
| | | yea dude i have the same hope with every new pillows album; still, even if i come up disappointed there's always at least a few songs on each album that stay with me
also the first single is so fun
| | | i guess ill check this out. Trial was the best thing theyve done since Happy Bivouac imo, everything in between has mostly been pretty mediocre.
| | | Yeah their recent singles have been really great, not just About a Rock'n'Roll Band but also Future and Happy Birthday (even if the title track on Future was technically an old song)
I'm allowing myself to get excited for this

| | | Listened to the album, not that impressed but will hold my final judgement until after a few more listens. Unfortunately seems to be more 'business as usual' than I'd hoped. Still wish the cover was just a little less shit as well...
| | | i really dont know how you can do the same thing for over a dozen albums and still be passionate about it, theyve got to be bored with it. probably nothing more than a job by now. its a shame, they wrote some good stuff when they were actually trying.
| | | there's a few amazing songs on the new album
manabe and sawao's solo stuff sounds pretty passionate at times you guys should check
| | | They're still super good live and obviously really enjoy themselves on the stage
