Listening now /m/
| |
yea im not gonna do that
| |
First song started off promising until the vocals came in
| |
this album is.... yikes
| |
Pretty okay so far idk
| |
Album will be a 1.5-2 for me if it keeps up the high quality of the first third of the record
| |
modern metal outfit
| |
I somewhat enjoyed Sounds of a Playground Fading, it had some pretty good tracks (I actually think A New Dawn is one of their best songs) which stood out among the rest of the crap and I liked it better than A Sense of Purpose, so I expected something at least decent. But nope, this is pretty much like Sounds of... but without those good tracks so you're just left with 3 OK songs, 6 bad songs and 2 terrible ones in my opinion.
It often happens that the singles released before the album are the most commercial (and sometimes worst) songs in there. Well, Through Oblivion is in fact the worst song In Flames has ever written, but Rusted Nail is actually one of the best on this album, so that's saying something about the quality of this release.
| |
"This is my world now, I can't let you bring me down"
lolololol
| |
In Flames so watered down, it's merely ashes.
| |
in flames
wat are you doing
in flames
STAHP
| |
Truly The Jester Race part 2.
| |
I find it funny how they couldn't even get the production right, drums sound like trash and I swear it clips
| |
through oblivion is their worst song ever agreed. but there are some goods on here like with eyes wide open, siren charms and when the world explodes.
| |
Not gonna take long to review this. I've honestly heard worse but this is a 2.5 at best and some of the moments are really bad, there's okay stuff here but it's really sparse
| |
what scoot said
| |
That opening of Dead Eyes...so good. Wish I could hear a strictly instrumental version of the song because the guitars haven't lost their touch.
| |
Maybe it's because i'm into stuff like Korn, but I don't see the problem with Through Oblivion.
Album is...alright so far.
| |
Oh, I am so excited to listen to this now. The hype in this thread is almost palpable.
| |
band was always shit and this is no exception
| |
So far, it's decent. There's only a few songs i'll probably listen to more than once, but it's not bad.
| |
If you're ever having a bad day, just remember at least you're not in flames
| |
Jamming this and first track just finished and I hate it. The guitar work is not too bad.
| |
Not as bad as I thought it would be, but it's still their worst album to date.
Actually really liked the first song.
| |
figures we just got a promo like yesterday
| |
I think no one can complain about their competence playing-wise. They all can play their instruments really well, but that's not something we've learned from this album, we've known it for years. The problem is that the songwriting is incredibly monotonous and uninspired, and the hooks that "modern" In Flames used to have aren't there either. I don't mind them not playing melodic death metal anymore as long as whatever they play sounds good, and up to now they more or less did it for me. But except for a few select moments I'm finding absolutely nothing remarkable in this album.
| |
The album opens with electronic queefing, what a promising start
| |
the chorus in when the world explodes is pretty. but other than that, the album fucking sucks, it so fucking sucking fucks...
| |
sucking fucks
| |
I don't hate this so far
| |
It fucking sucks it fucking blows and I'd rather have a rhinoceros take a diarrhea dump in my ear than listen to this again. hahha the AVGN movie is out already, need to watch it
| |
Terrible album.
| |
In Flames We T...hrow this album
| |
The only suitable thing to do with this album is throw it in the flames yep, agreed.
| |
And then defecate In Flames for good measure
| |
hmm this should boost my objectivity rating a little
| |
This isn't very good. Last album was better.
| |
Not as bad as I thought it would be, but it's still their worst album to date. [2]
The previous album was great though, I don't care what anybody else says.
| |
Playground was really good agreed hard
| |
very catchy and well-written album
Anders' clean is very unique, definitely one of my favorite singers
| |
Hey glad I'm not the only one who liked Playground

| |
LOL!
| |
damn ur so edgy treefingered. but yea this is bad. i can't even finish it.
| |
0/5
| |
It's not that Bad cmon. On my fourth listen now.
| |
Playground had fantastic songwriting and solos that kicked ass.
This is just a mess. The production is muddy and the songs sound like the worst part of Soundtrack and Purpose.
| |
no its that bad.
| |
Fuck
| |
yeah i despise the production as well but i hope it will be better on cd.
| |
Why the hell does he sing like Korn more so than ever?
Do they even try anymore?
| |
GO GET EM WIZ!
| |
might as well put Korn on the similar bands list
| |
Why is Korn a benchmark of how radio rock bands want to sound?
| |
This doesn't deserve half the hate it's getting.
| |
Explain lol.
| |
Explain why everyone's jumping on a bandwagon of hate without actually letting the medium sink in or explain why I think this is better (read: not great) than what the glorious community of sputnikmusic thinks?
| |
I haven't heard this. I hate it.
On the real though I see your point Nocte. That can be Sputnik.
| |
You claim that it ''doesn't deserve the hate it's getting'', so you should clarify this first.
This is too accessible that it doesn't really require many listens to sink in. I think it's a poor album
that shows nothing of interest apart from some guitar work. The vocals are just terrible.
| |
Okay I'll play along I was going to put in a full review but between work et cetera I'll be pushed to get it done.
Siren Charms does not deserve this level of hate because the opinions on it are ill-conceived and brought about from "hopping on a band wagon". Simply this album is let down by a mismatched production and a simplistic same-iness. Anders vocals don't play as big as a part when compared to the group's previous records. The quasi cleans actually suit this semi minimalist, commercial tone. I'll admit that the drums are rather uninspired and could use more attention come studio time.
Say what you will about In Flames progression of sound, at least it is exactly that.
| |
I understand and respect your opinion ofcourse.
I'll look forward to see your review.
| |
Lol, my bad Jackie Boy
| |
All this hate is kinda upsetting, I enjoyed it.
| |
I feel like liking this just because wiz hates it.
| |
Well it's not the worst thing in the world or anything, but it just feels so watered-down. Granted there are few enjoyable moments.
| |
I agree with you Toon.
| |
lol @ that dude quickly assuming you're jumping on a bandwagon if you dislike the album, that's such a cop out. liking music isn't that black or white.
| |
Oh yeah NocteDominum, excuse me for my quite disrespectful post asking for your opinion.
Had to get this off my chest, it just didn't feel right.
| |
Fuck this band, and fuck anyone who tries anything new.
| |
"Fuck this band, and fuck anyone who tries anything new."
Some bands actually succeed when trying new things you know
| |
^Agreed, hard.
| |
Anders doen't give two shites about you haters and first off they are TRUE ARTISTS, the legacy you people have created for this band isn't real it's a fantasy bro and you kids think u are all so damn edgy
| |
"Anders doen't give two shites about you haters"
Meh true that, but as for the rest of that statement....
| |
In Flames have gone down in flames. Sorry, but this is just awful.
| |
