| |
album slays sans Sky Full of Stars. even starting to appreciate Ink
| |
this band was ok when they were rippin radiohead's style idk what to think of them now
| |
Im very divided by this album, while I dig some of the tracks and love them theres also a lot of tracks that really bother me. I had a special copy of this album a few days earlier and have been working on a review since, ill most likely have it out tomorrow.
| |
this is really meh
| |
"You know how I know you're gay? You like Coldplay."
| |
You know how I know you're an idiot? You're still quoting that.
| |
^
coldplay delivers, once again
| |
lol Aids comment

Was going to make a 40 year old virgin joke but decided against it
| |
And the reviews have already started...
| |
Digging O and Midnight so far
| |
ready lets go
expecting 6-7/10
| |
O is a fantastic closer
| |
this is really beautiful
| |
Everything except A Sky Full Of Stars is great here. A really slick, introspective album.
| |
A Sky Full Of Stars actually fits in a bit better than I would've expected. Still could've done without it. O is a magnificent ballad. The entire album has this vaguely ethereal feel to it. very good
| |
Yeah, i'm liking this maybe as much as I like Viva La Vida.
| |
Very good, reaches pretty much my expectations in fact...
| |
need
| |
Pretty good album. Oceans and O are just beautiful.
| |
Which random staffer will 5 the new Coldplay is always my favorite game
| |
Midnight is the shit. Haven't listened to a Coldplay album in years. This is pretty good.
| |
Sky full of stars is the worst thing ever.
Midnight on the other hand is the best song they've come up with since Parachutes. So I'm really divided... gotta check this as soon as i get home.
| |
Sky Full of Stars was the radio hit for sure, got high hopes for this tbh.
| |
I like coldplay a lot, but chris martin dayum, you're a grown man. You really need to work on your lyrics. Both "Magic" and "Sky full of Stars" are terrible in that regard.
| |
One of the first things I thought about it is wondering which random staffer will 5 it lol. It's bound to happen, anyone got any guesses?
| |
fucking sucks as expected
| |
Sky Full of Stars blows so hard. Agreed, Midnight is pretty good, but this doesn't really do anything for me, even on repeated listens.
Everyone else's opinion must be wrong, I guess.
| |
I think the hate towards Sky Full of Stars is a tad bit ridiculous. Had Avicii's name not been tacked on to the song, I feel said opinions wouldn't be so drastic. It's a piano ballad (which is quite typical of Coldplay) mixed with a healthy dose of electronic synth and accompanying effects to boot, so that the song fits right into place with all the rest of the album. It's really not so atrocious as people are making it out to be.
Don't deny the fact that you'll all be driving in your cars on starry nights a couple months from now, blasting that shit from your car stereo with your friends all singing along!
| |
Yeah the hate towards Sky Full of Stars is ridiculous. It's composition, chord progression, melody, and basically everything about it is vintage Coldplay--the ONLY exception to that being the EDM break in place of the chorus. Compared with the big "radio hit" tracks from their last couple of albums (Princess of China, Paradise, and Viva La Vida), it's much more true to their roots and their original sound. Hating it just because it's "Coldplay making a dance song" is pretty cheap...and let's be honest, it's a better song then any of the EDM currently on Top 40.
Also, for those hating on the bland lyrics: take a listen to some Beatles and Stones radio hits sometime. Not a whole lot of deep philosophical musings or ingenious wordplay to be found. IT'S RADIO--simple and shallow is the name of the game and always has been. Remember, these are the same guys who got famous off a song about the phonebook. The good stuff is always found in the deep album cuts, not the singles--and don't pretend like that's some big surprise.

| |
its a 3.5 after a couple listens. True Love and Ink are the worst tracks.
| |
No way, They along with O are the best. Sky Full Of Stars is easily the worst and it's not half bad.
| |
The outro in Oceans could fit perfectly on a Tim Hecker record.
| |
The best are Midnight and O, by far. Oceans is also great. Ink and True Love just don't do anything for me.
| |
A Sky Full of Stars isn't bad at all, and it fits in perfectly where it is on the album.
| |
Lol at everyone who thinks sky full of stars is "vintage coldplay" just because it's a poor "clocks/speed of sound" imitation with avici brostep beats.
| |
A Sky Full Of Stars is nothing like vintage Coldplay, c'mon, people. It MAY have that similar "chord progression" like old Coldplay, but still, it's plastered with brostep beats, and sounds like a spring break anthem sans the lyrics. Other than that, the album is fucking great.
| |
I hope Coldplay releases an acoustic version of A Sky Full of Stars.
