Linkin Park Hunts On June 17th

2014-04-09 by AaronBatt | 65 Comments
Linkin Park have officially announced their new album The Hunting Party will drop June 17th, and they have also revealed the album artwork exclusively to Noisey.

Another highlight is that Paige Hamilton of Helmet will lend his vocals to the song 'All For Nothing'.

You can see the cover art and read Noisey's interview with Mike Shinoda below:

Skeptical. I like the cover, though.

These guys have shit on my heart too many times for me to be hopeful. I really don't care for most of the new stuff they have been releasing. A Thousand Suns was a really cool concept album and flowed really well despite lacking a lot of heaviness they used to trademark. I fucking hated Minutes To Midnight except for the song "Given Up" which made my dick explode with jizz. Living Things was unorganized and ridiculous. I don't mind bands experimenting but please at least do it well.

tl;dr: I'm bitching that I want the old Linkin Park back.

Guilty All the Same was a return somewhat to the Linkin Park of old.

Also Daron from SOAD and the lead singer of Helmet have guest spots

Mike took a completely anti-pop stance in that interview so maybe that'll be a good sign.

Even if you don't like Linkin Park, you gotta respect them. They could've easily just kept releasing Hybrid Theory rehashes and been
guaranteed success, but they do what they want. That's really unheard of with most mainstream hard rock bands today.

This...could be good. From Guilty All the Same, they seemed to go back to their old sound. Would love for them to go back to their roots, with Chester singing and Mike's rapping, but I'm not sure. HT and Meteora were sick, but the others just kind of fell flat. Hopefully this is good. Love the artwork too.

I liked everything Linkin Park has done and i can only have respect that they will never have one formula. I kinda like Guilty All the Same, the Rakim part is by far the best part of the song! As always I'm excited as fuck for what the album will sound like, just because it will be something completely different!

Another album ??!! The first 4 albums came out in a gap of 3-4 years each . The last 3 came out in 2010/2012 and now the new one . Let's not forget the remixes came out a few months ago .
I wish LP put out the first 2 albums fast as the latest 3 ...
It's a shame. I used to love them back at 2000-2003 but now ? I just can't hear them .

From what he said in the interview I'm hoping this means it will be an overall heavy album, not necessarily a return to roots but more aggressive. as they said they're trying to get back to the sort of stuff they liked when they were 15 and Mike's grown tired of the indie scene.

I don't think that they released a truly bad album, except for Minutes to Midnight (which was still more mediocre than bad). I love everything else. Have high hopes for this.

I actually think that ATS is an amazing record. It took me 1 year to fully get into it, though (and no, it doesn't mean it's shitty - it took me 2 years to fully apreciate TDAGARIM). It flows just lovely, and I adore the concept. It's the kind of record that should be listened to from start to finish. It really packs emotional punches.
I find it funny when people say that they do whatever brings them the most cash. If it was true, they would only release rehashes of Hybrid Theory. Instead, they experiment a lot. No wonder their fandom is so broken - they change a lot.
Maybe I'm biased, cause I'm much closer to "all albums rule in their own right" than hating on any of them (even if MTM is my least favourite one, it still has some good songs and was an important step for the band in searching their own identity).
I don't get the hate towards Linkin Park and never will. I've got a lot of respect for them, especially since a lot of their songs read as post-abuse narratives. If it's right to hate them, than I'd rather be wrong.
