I'm interested in the darkest hour cover.

| |
wtf is this
| |
the stupidest thing ever thats what it is
| |
Whoa at those STYG cleans
| |
probs gonna be a tidal wave of liquid shit
| |
I know a lot of people like 'Florence, but how does this not seem super random?
| |
dear god
| |
this sounds like the worst idea ever. oh god.
also like 3 years late.
| |
what the fuck
| |
No Crosses tho, huh
| |
some of the artists make sense (periphery, dead letter circus, mike semesky) but I can't wait to hear the breakdown-versions of seven devils and lover to lover
| |
The periphery track sucks.
| |
Periphery track wasn't bad, since it wasn't just 8th string wankery. STYG cleans are awesome. What the Water Gave me is shit though. Really random album idea, but I'm a sucker for a good cover.
| |
what fieryfenderz said [2]
| |
...why???
| |
What in fuckdom is this
| |
wtf
| |
At least this does what Ash intended. It reminded me that I need to check out Florence and the Machine. Not a big fan of any of the covers, though. However, the Stick to Your Guns track is pretty decent.
| |
What the fuck is this shit??? Way to desecrate Florence's music
| |
Link at the top is broken for some odd reason, takes me to a different concert page. :/ Was interested in hearing Ash's twisted reasoning for this...
| |
Weird, don't know what's up with the link.
Here's what he said:
"To me, Ceremonials by Florence + The Machine is one of the most timeless records to come out in years. The distinctive vocals and melodies, the orchestration and instrumentation, the production, the mood and the lyrics have made me enamored with the album. It is also one of the heaviest records in years to me… not in the sense of metal and aggressive vocals/guitars/drums, but in how the songs make you feel. The emotional conviction that Florence Welch gives in her delivery combined with the brilliance of Isabella “Machine” Summers and the production of Paul Epworth has made for one of my favorite albums of all time. I wanted to give Sumerian bands the platform to re-invent these songs and to hopefully bring great music to new ears all over the world who may have otherwise never experienced this album. We made an exception and included one older song from Florence’s previous record Lungs, which Stick To Your Guns did an incredible job with.. I hope you enjoy Sumerian Ceremonials and the original Ceremonials as much as I have. Thank you for taking the time to check it out."
| |
how peculiar
| |
@Beneath Just type in "Sumerian" on the Alt Press search bar and the article comes up. In short, Ash basically said he loves the record by Florence and wanted to do this as an opportunity to give the album some exposure to Sumerian's general audience. Basically, his hopes are that kids will hear their favorite Sumerian bands cover the album and then seek out the originals.
| |
I agree that Ceremonials is amazing, but making this kind of cover album just seems bizarre to me
| |
Damn, Q beat me to it.
| |
I love how this came out of nowhere though
| |
Agreed. Even though I like the purpose of Ash putting this together, it's just an odd concept, and undoubtedly won't be well executed.
| |
I'd be more interested if the covers were of actual metal songs...
| |
periphery track is ok but come the dawn (whoever the fuck they are) butchered the best song on the album
| |
haha look we covered songs that are a completely different genre haha look its kooky and random hehe haha
| |
^thats [removed] definitely not what theyre implying
edit:fuk i wrote 'probably' and then 'definitely' right after, sorry :^(
| |
dafuq.
| |
"probably definitely" get a brain dumbass
| |
super comment friend ty for advice :]
| |

| |

| |
interesting idea, but it's still Sumerian
| |
man periphery's vocalist is so bad
| |
This is so incredibly random.
Interested in what Darkest Hour, Born of Osiris, Mike Semesky, and Dead Letter Circus can do with the material though.
No Crosses tho, huh [2]
| |
I'm interested in the darkest hour cover. [2]
| |
So basically Punk Goes Pop Sumerian Edition
| |
am I the only person on this site that actually likes periphery's cleans? they're pretty much the only
reason I listen to them
| |
you are a snowflake fish, yes
| |
i like spencers cleans but by sputnik law i am required to hate them
| |
I wonder what Florence thinks of this, or if she or the band even knows about it? This is super random and weird
| |
Tune in next month when Rise Records does a compilation cover of Adele's 21!
| |
What's the point?
| |
All these bands suck. Lol, what an awkward album this will be.
| |
Guess I'm the only one who doesn't like Florence and the machine? Won't check this out for that very reason.
| |
Born of Osiris - Seven Devils
ho boy.
and that periphery track sucks SHIT.
| |
I'm glad this came out because it got me to check out Florence and she's wonderful
| |
So this sounds gay as fuck but I am stoked to see Darkest Hour on Sumerian. I had no clue that they signed with them.
| |
Did Florence ever comment on this?
