|

"Is this part of the teagarden catalog"
hopefully not
|
| |
Last album was good so this should be pretty decent at least
|
| |
Maybe one will be good and the other will be meh. Or both will be unfocused. We'll just have to wait & see.
|
| |
i bet these albums will suck like their most current efforts.damn i miss the 90's era pumpkins.i wish billy would do his future works under another name and quit tarnishing the name of the pumpkins.
|
| |
@joesmoe4000 you do realize that the Smashing Pumpkins has pretty much always been Billy Corgan's band? No matter who they are, the other members were/are basically hired guns.
|
| |
that may be true but he created better music in their presence i'm sure they influenced his
creativity also proof is in the 90's era albums.not much you can debate about this new sound
is bullshit.
|
| |
inb4 YoYo
|

I kinda am looking forward to it.

"that may be true but he created better music in their presence i'm sure they influenced his

Lol, so you're saying that bands that keep their lineups intact consistently make music of the same quality?
Also, Oceania was pretty good. You should go check it out.
|
| |
Nah Oceania sucked Sitar didn't you hear him "not much you can debate about this new sound
is bullshit."
I mean he's pretty much got us beat there
|
| |
Crap! I guess I was being overly optimistic. Never again.
|
| |

NOPE just saying 90's era pumpkins made better music than the current "pumpkins" no debate & Oceania
sucked balls.

OCEANIA SUCKED BALLS
CLOSE DOWN THE THREAD FELLAS HE'S GOT US NAILED
|

Billy Corgan is kinda like Samson, ever since he cut his hair he slowly started to suck more and more. New Pumpkins are extremely meh.
|
| |
'guitar-oriented'
m/
|
| |
" very guitar-oriented"
wow an upcoming album from a rock band is guitar oriented? crazy

"NO DEBATE

Lol. Priceless, Rowan. Priceless.
Oceania was a stellar album. So much creative guitar leads flowing through it, not to mention some sweet riffs reminiscent of Siamese Dream days. Also can't go wrong with having an album that is strong front to back musically, and is over an hour long. Makes quite the musical adventure. I'll definitely check these two albums out. Hopefully Corgan doesn't outdo himself tho.
|
| |
I submitted this article too looks like YoYo was inb4 everyone
|
| |
Why doesn't Billy just release one GOOD album? Mind-boggling.
|
| |
I have really high hopes for this after the form Billy and the band were in for Oceania.
Plus I'm a huge fan regardless.
|
| |
Oceania had a lot of pretty solid moments, so I have high hopes for these. The names aren't really promising though.
|
| |
When bands say their music is very "guitar oriented" I have no idea what they mean. More riffs? Solos? Guitar driven melody? Duel Guitars? Songs were written for guitar? Written on guitar?
Or does he mean no more synth?
|
| |
I hope so. The synth ruined the worst tracks on Oceania, which was a solid 4 so I have great expectations for both of these.
|
| |
The album's should be good despite the title's sucking. Maybe they'll grow on me when we see some album art or a track list or, you know, hear the actual music. I'm excited. I thought Oceania was excellent- by far their most complete album since Adore and there are moments on it that can hang with Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie in terms of sheer quality.
I think by guitar-oriented he probably just means less synth. Sure, Oceania had some great guitar moments throughout... some good solos, strong riffs, leads, all that stuff. It was the best guitars have sounded on a Pumpkins album since Mellon Collie. But that being said, I wouldn't describe it as a "guitar album" to anyone. The synth makes its presence known just as well. Siamese Dream though? That's a guitar album for sure I'd say. It's all about those tones and fuzz and solos. And then Pisces Iscariot with that onslaught of sheer guitar bliss in Starla. Zeitgeist was pretty guitar-centric too, but I doubt he puts out an album that bad again.
tl;dr: I love the pumpkins

ROTFLMAO
|
| |
IKNOWRITE!
|
| |
Why hasn't Billy Corgan committed suicide yet?
|
| |
Perhaps because he's an accomplished and respected musician, idk.
|
| |
Never remotely enjoyed anything the man has created, just an opinion. Remember his Zwan project he did back in the early 00s? I rest my case.
|
| |
Well, I guess it's settled then. Corgan has always sucked and will never be capable of making music that doesn't suck.
|
| |
I love this guy's mentality and approach, just not his music.
|
| |
Now you see the light Sitar ; ).
Really and truly, I love stirring up butthurt Smashing Pumpkin fans.
|
| |
A 90's rock icon turned chubby, bald, pretentious control freak. Oceania by Corgan & Friends was one big, fat yawn and we all know the only 90's "comeback" band worth listening to is Alice in Chains.
|
| |
Gish? Amazing
Siamese Dream? Amazing
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness? Amazing
Adore? Near-Amazing, still really great.
Machina I? Shit.
Machina II? Shit.
Zeitgeist? Shit.
Oceania? Meh, not shit, but not good.
I have 0 faith that this album will be any good. Pumpkins should have ended after Adore...
|
| |
^^^ except Zeitgeist is the only shit one
|
| |
I actually really enjoyed Machina I + II. But I agree about Zeitgeist. Oceania wasn't great, but I'd say it was a decent album. I think the sooner people stop expecting old Smashing Pumpkins they'll find new SP more tolerable.
|
| |
Not sure how I missed this but I'm friggen stoked.
|
| |
Pumpkins should have ended after Adore...
couldn't have said it better
|
| |
But you should still try, joeschmoe
|
| |
Machina is well up there with Siamese Dream and Melon Collie..
Everlasting Gaze, Stand Inside Your Love, This Time, Wound, Heavy Metal Machine, Speed Kills all rank with their best work.
It's beyond me why it's so ignored.
|
| |
Might be good, I was one of the people who actually liked Oceania.
|
| |
"Everlasting Gaze, Stand Inside Your Love, This Time, Wound, Heavy Metal Machine, Speed Kills all rank with their best work. "
The Imploding Voice, The Crying Tree Of Mercury, Blue Skies Bring Tears and Sacred and Profane all rank among their worst.
|
| |
uhhh.... there was a machina II?
|
| |
Heavy Metal Machine (both versions) are like torture to my ears. The Machina II one is a lot worse though.
|
| |
Crying Tree one of their worst? wtf YoYo
|
| |
^ i've been puzzling over this discog for eons get on my level
|
| |
Must say I'm excited, especially after Oceania.
|
| |
and in huge disappointment news, the guy from Motley Crue is playing drums on these. I'm tempted to walk away entirely.
|
| |
