I'm liking the direction they've taken, but I'm not so sure about the production -- I think I preferred the dense, slightly cleaner production of CBA. The melodies are definitely there, though, and it certainly seems like a logical extension of both Cynic and Aeon Spoke.

Edited to add: And the bass, I'm really not liking the sound of those repeating quavers.

Bass is easily the tightest thing on this track. But this is really an extension of CBA + Aeon Spoke and doesn't feel that "Cynic"-y. It's still good, though.

This absolutely ridiculous that this is being released under the 'Cynic' moniker. This is not metal, it's an obvious cash-grab. It's an attempt to stir up enough controversy with the past fans of Cynic's actually interesting brand of metal to con them into buying this plain alternative music. This material has already been released as 'Aeon Spoke' and should be released as that once again, it's definitely insulting to past fans of Cynic.

In regards to the actual song, it's mediocre, and I would presume, mildly entertaining to those that enjoy alternative rock.

Song's growing on me already. Album will be awesome. Put yourself in Cynic's shoes, you come back after 15 years, make a metalish album, and everyone collectively jizzes in their own mouths over it... why the fuck would you stick to the same sound? The real cash grab would be TiA part 2.
