ugh...well it's good to hear that they found a new producer so quick. I want to jam this shit.
|

Don't know If I should stand behind this transfer of producers.
Don't want Carcass to sound like "nu/digi metal".

what do you mean? Sneap hasn't always worked with the BEST bands around, but he did produce
Deliverance and Endgame, which both sound great. If anything, I'd associate him more with metalcore
than nu metal.
|
| |
Sneap's name is almost everywhere these days and the possibility of the new Carcass album sounding as "another Sneap production" should be taken into account imho.
|
| |
If you're going to comment on Sneap taking over productions, you should realize that Sneap and Richardson both have a pretty even resume in terms of production/ mixing. They're productions standards are relatively the same as well.
|
| |
no producer in the world can change how bad this will be
|
| |
Couldn't really give a shit who's producing this album anymore imho. Carcass is back. That is all.
|
| |
@Wizard
Between the two, I would choose Richardson over Sneap at any given occasion.
I still remember the abrupt transition in Nevermore's sound with the compressed sound of Dreaming Neon Black compared to Kernon's balanced job in The Politics of Ecstasy.

And granted, that was nearly 20 years ago and the chances of Sneap doing a good job are legitimate, but the Nevermore incident was a major let down back then, and somehow the news about Carcass brought it onto the surface.

I agree with Hyperion, as fun as Swan Song was, it was still a terrible album and no doubt not alot has changed since. And have Sneap or Richardson on board can guarantee much. They work with the odd great artist but mostly alot of generic shit.

I agree fully. He did work with some of Earaches back catalogue and that to me deserves huge cred points.
|
| |
doubt this'll change a thing
|
| |
oh yeah if we're debating the merits of the two Richardson is clearly the choice. My only points were that Sneap isn't total garbage and I just never thought of him as related to nu metal really (as opposed to someone like Ulrich Wild).
|
| |
Album will be average either way.
I don't think Sneap is a good fit for this band though.
|
| |
I rather have someone who wants to do it then some guy who doesn't want to do it and ends up making a half ass product
|
| |
Nothing will stop this album from ruling.
|
| |
This is actually good news, I didn't like the bands he's worked with
|
| |
They didn't switch producers just mixers
|
| |
I feel uneasy about this. How could he hit a brick wall trying to find the right sound for the album... that could be bad.
|
| |
Make the guitars loud and distorted
|
| |
i would laugh if he stopped because he thought it sucked too much
|
| |
fuck the naysayers this will rule
|
| |
Sucks because Colin Richardson was THE Carcass producer.
Still, given that Bill Steer uses mainly vintage equipment and completely abhors digital effects, I doubt we will end up with Sneap's generic guitar sound. Maybe Sneap will go back to the old days when he produced Iron Monkey
And yeah, listen to TheSpirit
|
| |
Well they already recorded it so yeah
|
| |
well if Death Magnetic (and countless other records) have taught us anything, it's that a bad mix can still fuck up a record pretty bad
|
| |
Yeah but we are talking here 'bout Colin Richardson.
|
| |
what's your point
|
| |
idk why but i lol'd pretty hard when i saw this
|
| |
You can't go wrong with Colin Richardson.
|
| |
sure, but Colin Richardson's not mixing this anymore. Andy Sneap is. And the above commenter's post was about the mixing not really affecting the record all that much, so I pointed out a notable example of the mix fucking up a record.
Colin Richardson is a fine producer/engineer
|
| |
My bad, misenderstood your comment. I agree with all the above you said.
|
| |
I can't see anything stopping this from being awesome. All Carcass is good Carcass, even Swansong. Really looking forward to this.
|
| |
So apparently he quit to mix the new Trivium album...
|
| |
????? Really???

This sucks big time.
Apparently he was offered a bigger wage.
|
| |
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
|
| |
Cannot believe the news....but yeah money seams that must have played a big role for Colin's decision apparently.
|
| |
Swansong fucking rules i don't get why people don't like
|
| |
Yeah, some of the riffing on there is amazing.
|
| |
Brandon, I like Swansong for all the wrong reasons. It's fun, it's catchy but it still sucks lined up against everything that came before it.
