Guitarist Alvin Lee Dead at 68 2013-03-07 by manosg | 25 Replies | 1858 Views |
Ten Years After guitarist Alvin Lee died yesterday (March 6th 2013) due to complications during a scheduled routine surgery at the age of 68.
Alvin Lee was born in Nottingham, England and rose to prominence during the late 60’s and early 70’s after Ten Years After’s appearance at the Woodstock festival in 1969. Lee released his 14th album last August and was scheduled to appear at a concert along with blues legend Johnny Winter on April 7 at Olympia Hall in Paris.
On a short note on alvinlee.com, his daughter Jasmin, wife Evi and former companion Suzanne wrote: "With great sadness, we have to announce that Alvin unexpectedly passed away early this morning after unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure. We have lost a wonderful, much loved father and companion. The world has lost a great and truly gifted musician”.

I saw this guy share the stage with many blues/rock greats the couple times I was at crossroads. I can't say he's been a huge influence on my playing, but he was a master

Yeah, he could play as fast as anyone but his phrasing was also great. For anyone who wishes to listen
to a song of his, 'The Bluest Blues' is awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apzNkhqkF8U
