Queensryche Posts New Song 2013-02-23 by Trey Spencer STAFF | 34 Replies | 1982 Views |
The Todd La Torre-fronted version of Queensryche have posted a 90-second snippet of one of their new songs. The track is titled 'Redemption' and will be featured on the band's upcoming album.

(This version of) Queensryche are currently recording their upcoming album with James "Jimbo" Barton (engineered and mixed Operation: Mindcrime and Empire, and co-produced Promised Land). They have reportedly already finished recording the drums and are currently working on the rest of the music and vocals.

This is what I'm talking about. Geoff Tate won't compete with this no matter how many guest musicians he hires.

Geoff Tate was a tumor. Now removed, Queensryche are on their way to a full recovery.
Thank God.

--Yes he was a tumor.....but these clowns actually have the balls to carry on the Queensryche name? Sorry but no degarmo and no tate.....no queensryche--
Why not? They carried on without Degarmo and now they're going without Geoff. There's still three original members left. It was never called Geoff Tate's Queensryche no matter how much he acted like it was.
|
| |
Of course they can but it just doesn't seem like the right thing to do. Rising West would've suited them just fine. Degarmo and Tate were the two major driving forces behind this band. Once Degarmo left, the songwriting suffered and the band started their decline. I don't think Geoff Tate should be using the name either.
I was / am a huge QR fan and am very disappointed over this whole situation.
|
| |
I agree that they could have stuck with Rising West, but I also don't think they should be required to dump the band name they have been using for over 30 years. They are original members, after all.
|
| |
From a business standpoint, if anyone gets to keep the name, it should be Wilton, Jackson, and Rockenfeld. I just don't agree with it as a fan, as it's rather deceptive. I thought Rising West was a good name for them, adding an element of freshness as well.
|
| |
Why is it deceptive? Why is the singer so important?
|
| |
When you were considered one of the best voices in metal, it's important.
|
| |
It would be important if he was still considered one of the best voices of metal. These days he's considered the main reason the band suck, and you can tell from his interviews that he doesn't even see it or doesn't give a shit (and I'm not sure which would be worse).

Geoff Tate is shot, no question.

please, stop mentioning this band

speak nicer Trey!
the bare fact that Queensryche is nothing than a shadow of their past cannot be ignored, and all these trivial attempts of the remaining members seem nothing but silly- a bunch of aged musicians trying to remember how to write some good metal
I just think these guys have nothing to contribute to the scene anymore, and you probably know ( from some past reviews) how I love their older albums.

my guitar teacher just randomly got called in to do a solo for this last night, not sure if he'll be credited or not though.
|

@Oyster Not for this, probably for the shitty GT version.

yeah idk which one it was for but he said the engineer was one of his former students or something.
|
| |
Geoff Tate's version of Queensryche is having what seems like hundreds of guest musicians on it.
|
| |
I don't think Geoff knows how to write a heavy album anymore. He needs all the help he can get.
|
| |
I don't like it when bands only release a snippet of a song from their upcoming album. either give us a full new track to listen to or give us nothing at all and wait till you CAN give us a full new track. snippets are always gonna be 'meh'
|
| |
Wow, taking out Tate like that definitely improved them. So sad being Tate use to be the face of Queensryche.
