August Burns Red Recording New Album
2013-02-16 by wacknizzle | 137 Replies | 4214 Views

PA metalcore quintet August Burns Red are in the studio recording their 5th full length album with Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland of Atrium Audio; the hometown duo responsible for producing their holiday themed album Sleddin' Hill.

“This new record will push the boundaries of our genre more than we ever have before,” Brubaker continues excitedly. “We set out to write a record where every song stands out from the last. There is a lot of ground covered here and a ton of meat to this album. It's full of odd metered rhythms and breakdowns, unexpected twists and turns, and some of our most technical riffing to date. Each of us have parts that make our heads spin and we have had to practice like crazy to get some of this stuff together. I know we always say this, but this will be our most ambitious album yet.” says Guitarist J.B. Brubaker from - Alternative Press

This still untitled album will be released later this year by Solid State Records.

Leveler was (progressive) metal with core elements, Messengers and Constellations were pure metalcore, easy as pie. If the new record will have enough breakdowns to be pure metalcore, the record will be fine for me. Leveler was a forgettable riff festival in the end. Lol at the "EXACT SAME THING" guys over here, ABR always had progression.

I love this band (minus Leveler which I thought was just okay) and I certainly don't see much change over the last three records. Messengers was inconsistent, Constellations didn't progress anything and just cut the weaker parts, and Leveler just went back to the flawed songwriting of old with more noodling on top.

My two cents on a pretty much dead discussion. Haha
