YOU'RE ON FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEE
radiohead wow looks like theyre gonna sell out even more!
Digging: Breadwinner - The Burner
Dammit, I was hoping they'd take their new sound and start throwing in some stuff they covered in the past as early as Remission. I have no clue what to think of this
old news lol
Digging: Currensy - The Legend of Harvard Blue
interesting, probably goin to flop though
mastodiohead GONNA BE SWEET
potsy just wet himself
I was really hoping for a Leviathan or Crack The Skye pt. 2.
the fuck, dont know what to think about this. at least theyre not settling into a rut where theyre writing the same album over and over again.
Digging: Temple of Void - Of Terror And The Supernatural
Obviously it will be good, but will it be for me?...
love the mastodon progression from album to album. this has potential.
"Radioheadish" influences? WTF!? Could my anticipation for this album be decimated any more?
Crack The Skye and The Hunter were complete dog shit, save for the track "Oblivion".
After Crack The Skye was released I knew I could never have faith in another Mastodon album going forward. I wont be dissapointed at all if the new one is a stinker again.
gonna suck obvs
What? I personally thought Crack The Skye was their best since Leviathan, "The Last Baron" kicked ass. I didn't like The Hunter all
that much though.
radioheadish lol ok 1/5
after the hunter, these guys are guilty until proven innocent
What era Radiohead?
album could be anywhere from "eh pretty surprisingly good I guess 3.5" to "wow this is the most retarded thing I've heard in many a fortnight 1.5"
So long as they don't pull an Opeth's Heritage I'm cool with this.
This might still be good. The band seems to be able to execute slow songs pretty damn well.
Now The Hunter is not that bad. It may be over produced but it's still an entertaining album.
im just tired of metal bands beginning the predictable descent to softer and more accessible music, its almost a cliche now.
"im just tired of metal bands beginning the predictable descent to softer and more accessible music, its almost a cliche now."
Oh, so you'd rather bands just put out the same heavy stuff over and over? Boooooring.
Going to have to agree with halloway on this one. Bands gotta evolve, otherwise we're hearing the same shit on a different day.
holy shit will suck
Digging: The Hotelier - Goodness
Working title: "Ok, Rasputin."
Working title: "Ok, Rasputin."
EDIT: Hooray for double posts.
"So long as they don't pull an Opeth's Heritage I'm cool with this."
Heritage > Mastodon
oh my god what the fuck are they thinking. go back to leviathan plz
"the hunter was great you people are retarded"
lakes is incorrect
Fool me once shame on you....
Digging: Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
"Oh, so you'd rather bands just put out the same heavy stuff over and over? Boooooring."
read my earlier comment, dumbass. and getting softer isnt the only way to stay innovative, its just a predictable pattern that im annoyed with.
Lol at all you dumb fucks that think Mastodon are getting "softer". There is still plenty of their Remission/Leviathan roots on their newer material. These guys are so good at not making the same album over and over again and keeping things interesting. Fucking ungrateful bastards.
???? Idk what to think
hey! whats so wrong with a metal band being inspired by radiohead. Anyways, this better be good
Please let it be better than The Hunter.
This article made me laugh. Album is probably going to suck ass
Digging: Vektor - Terminal Redux
Digging: Seaside - Undone
What they're really trying to say is that they're going dubstep
Go back to the Leviathan days for crying out loud!
YOURE TEARING ME APART MASTODON!
Why is everyone saying this will suck? Mastodon have had an impressively consistent career. They don't release bad music period.
I'm looking forward to this. Two of my favorite "new" bands (new in comparison to Springsteen, Rush, Iron Maiden, etc.) Really like The Hunter, and especially Crack the Skye (easily their best, IMO).
Digging: Death Grips - Bottomless Pit
the hunter was great. crack the skye was idiotic. blood mountain was okay. mastodon hasn't done anything incredible since leviathan
Should be interesting, Hope they develop these songs moreso than on the Hunter.
most likely. But i'm going into it with high hopes purely because it's mastodon.
as such, if i hate it. I should.
I want another Remission, album rocked
KILL nailed it
They used to rock
will be the worst album ever made
Digging: Boredoms - Super Ae
Heavy heavy heavy!!! I just want heavy fucking music with GROWWWWWLS! Don't give me any melody! Waaah waaah waaah! I want this band to be how they were ten years ago! Even though people fucking change and develop new tastes! I don't want my favorite band to change! Waaaah waaahh waahh! everybody shut the fuck up Brent Hinds is GOD. FUCKING CLOSE MINDED ASSHOLES ON HERE THIS IS WHY METALHEADS GET SUCH A BAD RAP.
Actually I'm not butthurt because I know they won't disappoint.
Hmm, a prog metal outfit trying to rip-off Radiohead, sounds excellent.
the hunter was ok, i hope this gets better
My feelings exactly
There is a difference between ripping off and being influenced. You haven't heard a millisecond of the album so you don't even know what it will sound like.
Crack the Skye was their best in my opinion, with Blood Mountain and Leviathan tied for second. The Hunter was more accessible but it still had a lot of great songs like the title track which features my all time favorite guitar solo of Brent Hinds.
Where's Remission in your rankings?
It has some sick riffs but its probably my least favorite just because I think they became way better with Leviathan and Blood Mountain.
Damn dude, damn
everyone has their opinions...
"this sounds like it could either be surprisingly incredible or an abhorrent disaster."
"read my earlier comment, dumbass. and getting softer isnt the only way to stay innovative, its just a predictable pattern that im annoyed with."
Whoa, temper temper. Just looking to coerce an alternative to "going soft" out of you.
Digging: Thrice - To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere
hm, seems too ambitious. still love these guys not matter how big they get.
he was prob fucked up on acid dont even listen to him
I just hope they leave some of those incredibly cheesy shouted vocal lines off this album. There really were some awful ones in the Hunter.... cough blasteroid cough.
A band will either get criticized for evolving or not evolving so either way these dudes will get a lot of shit thrown at them for whatever they do from now on.I'm in support of whatever they do even though I thought The Hunter was their worst album they are still capable of creating something worth while. So fuck the haters I'll still pick up their new album!
Fuck you, me too.
