Decent.

link isnt working

Somehow I just knew the lyrics would be that cheesey...
At least the unclean vocals are better.
| |
Here's a better link and art:

| |
this is fucking good
| |
Does any body know why the vocals are so weak? I remember watching a video of them live and he was struggling so bad, and the last 2 albums the vocals are deep and heavy. Don't get it..
| |
And I looked them up in Wiki and it says nothing about any lineup changes in the vocal area.
| |
There were some cool moments in this like the buildup to the last chorus but otherwise this isn't very good, especially in comparison to their last one.
Album art is really cool though.
| |
i am guaranteed to overrate this.
| |
Yeah the link is broke.
| |
so typical risecore, yes?
| |
really good, the vocals sound awesome, rapp's naturals beat the shit out of his old forced screams
| |
pretty disappointed by this. The vocals are really downgraded compared to the last album. However, this is only the single so in due time we'll see.
| |
Surprisingly good song, but I'm not liking the vocals this time around for some reason.
| |
the vocals do suck, but there is one part where the cleans stand out, nicely.
| |
Wow, the vocalist completely changed his style. Doesn't even sound like the same band anymore. I guess that's what happens when you lose the guy who wrote all your material.
| |
Holy shit this is atrocious. The vocals were so fucking a' prior to this garbage. I mean that "scream" at 1:18, it's like he's literally chocking.
| |
He's trying to sound like Drew York to me.
| |
Yeah this shit blows. What's up with the half-assed talk-scream this guy is doing? What's up with the generic riff-fest? Why does this sound like EVERY other Rise band mixed into a blender?
| |
Because the scene kids love the cheesey pun of "Know Hope" and Like Moths to Flames imitations.
| |
im not digging his new vocal style.
| |
He's trying to sound like Drew York to me.
Trying. I don't like this.. I loved his screaming, what the fuck happened. Hopefully the other songs present something cool about them that can help them grow on me. But the rest of the song is fucking good.
| |
"Why does this sound like EVERY other Rise band mixed into a blender?"
it doesn't.
| |
this band used to be great and that's what makes me sad.
| |
What the hell? His vocals are so.... bleh. He used to be awesome. This song isn't awful or anything but I was definitely expecting more from them.
| |
new vocals are very underwhelming. Song is consequently below par.
| |
Wow those screamed vocals are rubbish. The cleans are decent and musically it's ok though. I really enjoyed their last album but i don't know about this one.
| |
Wow i was expecting the vocals to be terrible from all you people shitting on them... But they were nowhere near as bad as you people make them seem.
| |
Compared to the last album they're pretty bad.
| |
NEXT TIME THERE WILL BE NO NEXT TIME
| |
It's just the single. I think it's too early to be saying stuff like "they used to be great". Anyway, I think the cleans are good, if not a little weaker, general musicianship in other instruments was also good. TCM is definitely not, and never will be, typical risecore.
Garrett's screams are weaker because he burned out his voice touring and Sturgis also used to flatten out his screams, he also said that he wanted to try a new style. I have mixed feelings about this.
| |
I dont get the hate on the vocals
they match the tone of the lyrics so much more
song rules
| |
This band just doesnt do anything for me. Not sure why but eh
| |
"He's trying to sound like Drew York to me. " (2)
i really liked those lows in the previous album.
| |
This is bad.
| |
do not want
| |
I remember the vocals being so much better on their last release.
| |
I didn't like this that much at first but tried listening to it more and more and I am really enjoying now. I keep humming the pre-chorus (If that's what it is?)
| |
i always felt their screamed vocals were the only thing holding them back in their old material
i'll probably like this
| |
wow everything about that was so bad
| |
Because the scene kids love the cheesey pun of "Know Hope" and Like Moths to Flames imitations.
Yes, and the "we're here for you, we're just like you, fuck everybody and be different little depressed children!" bullshit so many bands are pulling. I guess that's a way to get fans but fucking come on.
| |
Vocals are a bit jarring on first listen, but after a few plays it grows on you. As for the inspirational lyrics, that's been their thing for a good bit. Gotta expect it now.
| |
I like the vocals a lot personally. Cleans and uncleans. I don't think it's as bad as other Rise bands. It isn't amazing but it is definitely not bad. Especially considering I listened to Genesi[s] by Woe, Is Me which was fucking terrible. Not sure I can consider anything else from Rise bad after that lol
| |
Hated everything but the chorus.
| |
I've liked pretty much everything they've done but the vox sound like he's gettin his balls stepped on
| |
honestly thought i would like this because of how much potential their last album had.
fuck this tho, i stand corrected. vocals are worse, instruments are worse, lyrics are worse. cleans are still kinda cool but are also worse
| |
everything(but the lyrics) about this is better than their last albums.
| |
the instrumentals are so much more watered down than they used to be, though. all of the cool guitar licks from their last release are gone in this. and the vocals sound like a weak drew york
i hope the album is better than this song
| |
Good song probably my favourite current band (if not top 3) DO NOT like the cleans as much here as last album but i dont mind the new yell screams.. hoping the album is better as well
| |
I got to hear early versions of two other songs on this album and they seriously rule. This song seems to be more lackluster but is still decent.
| |
meh.....
| |
the cleans are down graded, but not bad by any means. this is an ok song
| |
this song needs more jonny craig
| |
I kinda like the new vocal approach. Makes him a bit different from all the other risecore screamers that are trying to copy eachother.
| |
I talked to Garret on the last night of the HNLU tour, and I specifically asked him about the lows. First off, he said that the lows just weren't genuine. He said that if his cat took a dump on the floor, he wouldn't go "NOOOO" in a low-pitched scream. Because you don't express emotion accurately that way. He says that this new vocal style feels more raw and emotional, plus the annunciation is much better. It's important that you hear the words - that's the whole purpose of what they do. And lastly, he said that with the old screams, his singing voice was always at 60%. With the new style, he can truly express his emotion without sacrificing his singing voice. Hope this clears things up
| |
This is okay
